Three Top 25 Players Choose Their Schools, All Three Go Division I

By Mike Penn
Michigan Director of Scouting

Three players from last year's Midwest Futures Team all made commitments this past week.  All of them committed to Division I schools. Two of them will face off in the Big Ten and the third will head south to play in the SEC. Take a look at who is going where:

+Brad Schaenzer, the final player in the Class of 2014 Top 10 has made his commitment.  After last his performance at the Midwest Futures Games, Schaenzer established himself as one of the most sought after lefties in the region.  He fielded offers from schools around the country and finally chose to play in the SEC for the University of Kentucky.  Schaenzer is currently ranked No. 4 in the state.

+Zack McGuire played well at Midwest Futures but it was his performance in the weight room this past off-season that transformed him. His transformation into a legitimate power bat allowed him to pick up offers from from Ball State, San Fransisco, Michigan State, amongst others. Ultimately he chose the Spartans of Michigan State.  McGuire is currently ranked No. 14 in the class.

+Michael Hendrickson quietly put up on of the best performances of any of the Midwest Futures participants last summer and has slowly seen his stock rise.  Hendrickson committed to Michigan this past week.  He too, had several schools interested including Wake Forrest and Cincinnati. Hendrickson has been up to 87 mph this spring but primarily sits between 83-85 mph.  Hendrickson is also his highly rated at No. 15 in the class.
