We would like to thank all who participated in PBR Michigan's Underclass Preview East Showcase. This was a great opportunity for prospects in the 2016, '17, and '18 classes to showcase their talents.

Brady Good, RHP/1B, North Branch HS, 2018

6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect. Over-the-top arm action with some deception in his delivery. Fastball was 68-70 mph, 10/4 curveball at 60-62 mph, changeup with some sink at 62-63 mph, and forkball as best off speed pitch at 58-61 mph. Showed good actions at first base with footwork and glove, threw 66 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.61 60-yard dash. Wide stance at the plate, short bat path in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 70 mph.

Brett Manis, LHP, Port Huron Northern HS, 2017

6-foot, 155-pound prospect. Short, high-¾ arm action with great tempo from left side. Fastball with some arm side run at 79-80 mph.  Curveball with gradual break at 64-66 mph. Slider with sweeping action at 70-74 mph. Spilt-finger was 67-70 mph.

Brett Pieper, C, Notre Dame Prep, 2016

6-foot, 170-pound prospect. Ran a 7.70 60-yard dash. Open stance with a leg kick stride, level bat path in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 68 mph.

Deven Mahanit, C/3B, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, 2018

6-foot, 190-pound prospect. Big bodied catcher who creates a good receiving frame for pitchers. Receives well behind the plate, will need to increase flexibility. Pop time of 2.24-2.29. Ran a 8.62 60-yard dash. Closed off stance with a short stride in compact swing. Bat speed registered at 66 mph.

Donny Mifsud, 3B/SS, South Lyon East HS, 2017

5-foot-9, 155-pound prospect. Shows good range with soft hands on the infield, quick transfers with getting the ball ready to throw. Long arm action throwing 66 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. Tall closed off stance, gets good separation with a slight uphill swing. Bat speed registered at 65 mph.

Ethan Whitcomb, LHP, South Lyon HS, 2017

5-foot-8, 150-pound left handed prospect. Quick, low-¾ arm slot, hides the baseball well creating deception for the hitter from the left-side of the mound. Fastball had good movement at 73-75 mph. Sweeping curveball at 62-63 mph. Changeup with fading action at 64-67 mph. Knuckle with plus control and good movement at 59-62 mph.

Ethan Zaglaniczny, C, Chippewa Valley HS, 2016

6-foot, 185-pound prospect. Good setup behind the plate with soft hands receiving the ball. Good flexibility creates his good blocking skills. Pop times of 2.13-2.21. Ran a 7.41 60-yard dash. Athletic setup at the plate, short with excellent use of his lower creating some pull power. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Evan Maize, RHP, Howell HS, 2017

5-foot-10, 140-pound prospect. Long over-the-top arm action with some effort. Fastball was 77-80 mph. 12/6 curveball with late break at 62-65 mph. Changeup with some sink at 74-75 mph. We will be a prospect to follow as he develops and matures.

Jack Hilt, RHP, Lutheran North HS, 2017

6-foot-3, 225-pound prospect. Quick over-the-top arm action with good leverage. Fastball was 81-84 mph with good command. 11/5 curveball was 66-68 mph with gradual break. Changeup was 63-64 mph with some sink.

Jason Green, OF, Howell HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 145-pound prospect. Good loose athletic actions in the outfield with his range, footwork, and glove. Threw 69 mph from the outfield. Ran a 7.16 60-yard dash. Crouched stance with a short stride in a pull approach at the plate. Bat speed registered at 69 mph.

Jay Brandt, MIF, Grandville HS, 2016

5-foot-11, 155-pound prospect. Good fundamental actions with approach on groundballs, soft hand and good footwork. Short ¾ arm action throwing 69 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash. Athletic stance with good rhythm in his stride and load, short level swing in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 72 mph.

Jeremy Spezia, RHP/C, L’Anse Cruese HS, 2017

6-foot-2, 170-pound prospect. Loose, high-¾ arm action with an easy delivery. Fastball was 77-79 mph, 11/5 curveball at 60-64 mph, changeup with some sink at 70-71 mph, and slider at 63-64 mph as best off speed pitch. Above average receiving skills behind the plate, long arm action for pop times of 2.18-2.37. Ran a 7.60 60-yard dash. Tall stance with a short stride stay inside the baseball well at the plate. Bat speed registered at 80 mph.

Jesse Noce, 1B, C, Adrian HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 245-pound prospect. Big bodied catcher creating a size frame for pitchers behind the plate. Showed good strong receiving abilities, flexibility needs to increase. Pop times of 2.28-2.37. Showed well at first base with glove and footwork, threw 68 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.60 60-yard dash. Open tall stance with good use of lower half creating some power to the pull side. Bat speed registered 87 mph.

Justin DeWitt, SS/OF, Utica HS, 2017

6-foot-1, 155-pound prospect. Showed plus fielding abilities with his footwork and glove at shortstop, throwing 74 mph. Fluid actions in the outfield with glove and footwork, throwing 70 mph. Ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. Tall stance with a short stride in a pull approach at the plate. Bat speed registered at 80 mph.

Kory Czajkowski, SS/2B, Norte Dame Prep, 2016

5-foot-9, 150-pound prospect. Showed quick loose actions at shortstop with his footwork and glove. Short, high-¾ arm action throwing 74 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.60 60-yard dash. Tall closed off stance, short compact swing in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 72 mph.

Kyle Kohl, 3B/RHP, Lincoln HS, 2016

5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect. Short over-the-top arm action with great ability of throwing strikes. Fastball was 72-74 mph, 11/5 curveball with gradual break at 61-64 mph, and changeup with fading action at 67-69 mph. Soft hands on the infield, throwing 72 mph across the infield. Ran a 8.31 60-yard dash. Crouched stance with an arm bar load, level swing in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 75 mph.

Mason Schwellenbach, SS/RHP, Saginaw Heritage HS, 2016

6-foot, 150-pound prospect. Loose over-the-top arm action with good balance in delivery. Fastball had good arm side run at 77-81 mph. 11/5 curveball with gradual break at 61-64 mph. Changeup had good sink at 68-69 mph. Showed plus actions at shortstop with his range, footwork, and glove. Short ¾ arm slot throwing 80 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.60 60-yard dash. Tall stance with rhythm in his stride and load, show great ability of getting the barrel to the baseball in a gap-to-gap approach. Bat speed registered at 73 mph.

Matt O'Neill, OF/SS, Lutheran Northwest HS, 2017

5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect. Good range at shortstop moving laterally to the baseball, soft hands, and creates good angles to allow quick throws. Long arm action throwing 71 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. Athletic balanced stance at the plate, short stride in a pull approach. Bat speed registered at 73 mph.

Matt Schmucker, 2B/RHP, Stoney Creek HS, 2017

5-foot-9, 125-pound prospect. Loose, high-¾ arm action with solid mechanics. Fastball was 66-68 mph with good command. 11/5 curveball with a gradual break at 58-60 mph and changeup with some sink at 61-63 mph. Loose actions at shortstop with his footwork and glove, threw 66 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.93 60-yard dash. Good setup at the plate with a short compact swing in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 70 mph.

Max Stevenson, SS/RHP, Utica Eisenhower HS ,2017

5-foot-7, 150-pound loose athletic prospect. Long over-the-top arm action getting downhill well. Fastball had good arm-side run at 76-78 mph. 11/5 curveball with good control at 66-67 mph. Changeup with some sink at 68-69 mph. Loose athletic actions at shortstop with soft hands and good footwork, threw 76 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. Exudes confidence at the plate. Athletic setup in the box with balance aggressive swing through the strikes creating great extension through the baseball. Bat speed registered at 77 mph.

Max Trucks, 1B/LHP, Mt. Pleasant HS, 2017

6-foot-1, 175-pound physically strong prospect. High-¾ arm slot with good mechanics from the left side. Fastball has some run at 71-74 mph. Gradual breaking curveball at 60-61 mph. Changeup with good sink at 63-65 mph. Showed athletic actions with footwork around first base and soft hands fielding the baseball. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. Open-to-even stance with a short compact swing in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 75 mph.

Mitchell Clark, RHP, Sandwich Secondary (ON), 2016

6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect. Quick, loose high-¾ arm slot with some effort. Heavy fastball at 84-89 mph. 10/4 curveball with late break at 68-71 mph. Changeup with good sink at 72-74 mph. Big strong bodied prospect to follow develop.

Payton Schuster, LHP/OF, Bishop Foley, 2017

6-foot, 183-pound prospect. Loose, high-¾ arm slot with good arm speed from the left side. Fastball was 74-78 mph, curveball with gradual break at 66-69 mph, and changeup at 61-62 mph. Showed good footwork and hands in the outfield, threw 70 mph. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash. Tall stance with good use of lower half staying inside the ball well from the left side of the plate. Bat speed registered at 77 mph.   

Spencer Schwellenbach, SS/RHP, Saginaw Heritage HS, 2018

5-foot-10, 150-pound two-way prospect. Quick, high-¾ arm slot with clean mechanics and good tempo. Fastball has some arm side run at 79-83 mph. Changeup with good sink at 66-68 mph. Plus fluid actions with footwork and glove at shortstop. Threw 76 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.26 60-yard dash. Narrow open stance, strides to an even stance at the plate. Creates good rhythm with quick hands to the baseball getting good extension through his swing. Bat speed registered at 74 mph.

William Marini, 3B/RHP, Holy Names (ON), 2018

5-foot-8, 150-pound prospect. Short, high-¾ arm action with some effort. Fastball was 62-65 mph, 10/4 curveball with gradual break at 52-55 mph, and changeup at 59-61 mph. Showed soft hands at shortstop, throwing 58 mph across the infield. Ran a 8.50 60-yard dash. Crouched stance at the plate with a short stride in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 59 mph.

Wyatt West, RHP, Taylor Truman HS, 2016

6-foot-6, 155-pound prospect. High-¾ arm action with good balance through his delivery.  Fastball is 76-77 mph with some arm-side run. 11/5 curveball with late break at 63-69 mph. Changeup is best off speed pitch with good sink at 70-71 mph.
