Updated Class of 2022 Player Rankings (September)

2021 brought back high school baseball in the state of Michigan where four schools were crowned champions. The state of Michigan has become a hotbed of talent throughout the country placing numerous players at various levels into colleges as well as multiple draft picks. As we close out the summer and move into fall baseball as well as other fall sports we had the opportunity to see hundreds of prospects throughout the summer and present our updated class rankings.

Many names came off the board to some of the top programs around the nation, many new names came to the forefront of the recruiting scene, and many prospects improved their game.

That being said, we have had the pleasure of seeing a number of solid players this past year. Prospects are popping up left and right, making velocity jumps, improving 60-yard dash times and showing more power with the bat.

Below we will take a look at, "Who's at number one", "What's New at the Top", “The Risers”, "The Gamers", The Sleepers”, "Don't sleep on these arms", and some of the top uncommitted prospects by position.

Who's At Number One

Brock Porter RHP / 1B / Orchard Lake St Marys, MI / 2022

Report: RHP Brock Porter continues to make his case as one of the top pitcher’s in Michigan High School history. Was seen this spring topping triple digits on the mound with a plus change up along with his sharp breaking curve. Porter has the mental as well as physical make-up that will allow him to thrive at a high level for years to come. Brock is a Clemson commit that has won two state championships in two high school years with one coming as the winning pitcher his freshman year. One of the nation’s top prospects holds on to the number one slot.

What’s New At The Top

David Lally RHP / SS / Grand Blanc, MI / 2022

Report: David Lally, is a 6-foot-4, 200 pound RHP that has flashed potential with the bat as well. A 2020 member of Team Michigan at the Future Games continued the momentum of committing to Notre Dame last summer into the 2021 spring high school season playing a vital role in leading Grand Blanc to a Division 1 State title. Lally has seen his stock continue to rise as he’s competed on the national level showing a three pitch repertoire with a fastball up to 94 mph takes the number 5 slot.

Jack Crighton 3B / 2B / Orchard Lake St. Marys, MI / 2022

Report: Jack Crighton, is a 6-foot-3, 180 pound two sport athlete and two time baseball state champion. His athleticism and versatility is on full display on the diamond as he’s able to move seamlessly to multiple positions without missing a beat. A  6.43 runner who has elite barrel to ball skills at the plate. A line drive machine that drives the ball into gaps. University of Michigan commit takes the number 10 slot.

The Risers

Ike Irish C / OF / Orchard Lake St. Mary's, MI / 2022

Report: C Ike Irish is a 6-foot-1, 190 pound left hand hitting catcher that checks all of the boxes for what you’d want in a backstop. Strong throwing arm, soft hands and a smooth glove to hand transfer behind the dish. 88 mph arm behind the plate along with contact and power at the plate Ike was an early commit to Auburn and it shows why. Last season won a state championship as the 3 hole hitter.

Edward Gregory Jr SS / 2B / Detroit Edison Public School Academy, MI / 2022

Report: SS Edward Gregory Jr is a 5-foot-10, 165 pound smooth middle infielder that possesses range both to the glove side and to his backhand with a swift release. At the plate fits the bill as a top of the order hitter that will swipe bases and ignite the offense. He plays at a fast pace and produces on the diamond. During his most recent showcase showed a 92.86% sweet spot rate with an 88 mph exit velocity.

Owen Avery RHP / 3B / Divine Child, MI / 2022

Report: Owen Avery, is a strong framed 6-foot-2, 215 pound RHP with bloodlines in baseball. Owen is a guy that continues to impress each and every time you have the opportunity to see him. What stands out most is his ability to pitch. In tournament game action ran his fastball up to 91 mph and had his spin rate in the 2400’s.

The Gamers

Connor Luck SS / 2B / Fenton, MI / 2022

Report: Connor Luck, is a 5-foot-11, 190 pound infielder that is capable of moving around on the infield but can stick up the middle. Sure hands and extremely consistent with his glove. Line drive hitter at the plate with sneaky power. Connor is a guy who will elevate a program with his will to win and high baseball IQ. A 2020 member of Team Michigan at the Future Games.

Marcus Patton 1B / 3B / Lincoln, MI / 2022

Report: 1B Marcus Patton is a 6-foot-1, 225 pound physically imposing middle of the line up power hitter. He’s a corner infielder with a violent swing and does damage at the plate. During his most recent showcase launched multiple balls over 350 feet while posting a 100 mph exit velocity.

Nick Krstich C / SS / Lamphere, MI / 2022

Report: C Nick Krstich is a 6-foot, 185 pound catching prospect that will catch your attention the longer you watch him. He can play the game of baseball, receiving well while controlling the game behind the plate. Has flashed some power at the plate, and has plenty of juice to continue developing.

Clay Emeigh SS / 3B / North Farmington, MI / 2022

Report: SS Clay Emeigh is a 6-foot, 185 pound middle infield prospect that has a work ethic that continues to show in his game. Has added power at the plate in his game as he drilled multiple balls out of the yard this summer with fast hands at the plate and a strong lower half. In the field is light on his feet with good lateral mobility.

The Sleepers

Blake Gedrich 3B / RHP / North Farmington, MI / 2022

Report: 3B/RHP Blake Gedrich is a 6-foot-1, 195 pound left hand hitting two-way prospect. At the plate has a level bat path working inside the ball producing line drives with authority posting an 89 mph exit velocity. Flashes a three pitch mix on the mound with his fastball up to 86 mph.

Alex Fenkell SS / 2B / Groves, MI / 2022

Report: SS Alex Fenkell is a 5-foot-11, 180 pound left hand hitting middle infield prospect. Shows a smooth, short compact swing path with pull side power. Posted a 96 mph exit velocity and while hitting multiple balls over 330 feet. Runs a 6.70 sixty time while throwing 89 mph.

Kaden Jewett 3B / SS / Boyne City, MI / 2022

Report: 3B/SS Kaden Jewett is a 5-foot-7, 162 pound explosive athlete that shows an extremely quick first step and burst of speed. Ran a 6.77 sixty, while posting a 96 mph exit velocity. A top of the order hitter that can ignite the offense and swipe bases.

Don't Sleep On These Arms

Coy Plummer RHP / SS / South Lyon, MI / 2022

Report: RHP Coy Plummer is a 6-foot-3, 175 pound prospect with long legs and wide shoulders leaving a lot of frame to fill out. Fills up the zone well with his three pitch mix while his fastball touches 90 mph. Throws with intent and has room to continue growing on the mound. A member of Team Michigan in the 2020 Future Games.

Stephen Ruhle RHP / 1B / ROYAL OAK SHRINE, MI / 2022

Report: RHP Stephen Ruhle is a 6-foot-5, 200 pound prospect with the ideal frame for a pitcher. Sits well on his back leg gaining momentum tossing downhill with a short arm. Sharp breaking 12/6 curve with late bite along with his 88 mph fastball and deceiving change up.

Kyle Fitzgerald OF / LHP / Warren, MI / 2022

Report: LHP Kyle Fitzgerald is a 6-foot-1, 160 pound athletic prospect that has an uptempo delivery with natural left hand run. Fastball was up to 84 mph with a spin rate in the 2300’s along with a sharp breaking curve that was his swing and miss pitch. His curve has a spin rate in the upper 2400’s and a sinking change up.
