We would like to thank all who participated in PBR Michigan's West Michigan Unsigned Senior Showcase. This was a great opportunity for numerous uncommitted seniors in the 2015 class to showcase their talents.

West Michigan Unsigned Senior Showcase: Complete Evaluations


Alec Justin, RHP, Bay City Western HS, 2015

6-foot-2, 180-pound long lanky right handed prospect. Quick, high-¾-arm slot, throwing slightly across his body. Creates some deception in his delivery and the ball gets on hitters quick. Fastball was 87-88 mph working both sides of the plate. 10/4 curveball with late break at 74-76 mph. Changeup showed good movement but was erratic at times in the strike zone at 78-81 mph.

Austin Snider, 3B, Yale HS, 2015

6-foot, 185-pound prospect. Hands and feet work well fielding the baseball at third base, does a great job of getting quick transfers and getting rid of the baseball. Threw 72 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.78 60-yard dash. Short stride with a strong lower half creating solid contact at the plate. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Austin Thompson, 3B/RHP, Loy Norrix HS, 2015

5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect. Quick, loose ¾ arm slot with good balance in his delivery. Kept fastball down in strike zone well at 80-81 mph. 12/6 curveball at 68-70 mph and change with some sink at 71-73 mph. Hands and feet work well together fielding the ball at third base, long arm action throwing 79 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash. Toe Tap stride, gets off back side well through the baseball in a pull side approach. Bat speed registered at 82 mph.

Blake Blanchard, RHP, Ostego HS, 2015

6-foot-5, 165-pound prospect. Long over-the-top arm action with creating leverage on the hitter. Locates all pitches well. Fastball with some movement at 70-73 mph. Curveball with gradual break at 56-59 mph. Changeup with sink at 59-63 mph. Cutter with good action at 62-63 mph.

Brandon Hass, LHP, Grandville HS, 2015

6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed prospect. Long, high-¾-arm action hiding his arm well behind his body in his delivery from the left side of the mound. Gets good extensions with his arm creating deception for the hitter. Fastball with good arm-side run at 75-79 mph. 11/5 curveball with late break at 62-65 mph. Changeup has a good fading action at 68-69 mph.

Evan Brown, 1B/3B, Ann Arbor Pioneer HS, 2015

6-foot-1, 250-pound prospect. Soft hands with good rhythm fielding the baseball at first base, long arm action throwing 72 mph across the infield. Ran an 8.97 60-yard dash. No stride at plate, gets back and through the baseball well in a pull approach. Bat speed registered at 82 mph.

Jacob Rosey, RHP/2B, Schoolcraft HS, 2015

6-foot, 150-pound prospect. High-¾ arm action with some effort. Fastball had some movement at 75-78 mph. 12/6 curveball with gradual break at 59-61 mph, slide is best off speed pitch at 64-65 mph, and change with some sink at 67-70 mph. Shows good range and soft hands at shortstop, threw 73 mph across the infield. Ran 7.25 60-yard dash. Wide base with no stride at the plate, creates a flat bat path through the zone in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 70 mph.

Jordan Jachens, 1B/LHP, Midland HS, 2015

5-foot-11, 155-pound prospect. High-¾ arm slot with good balance through his delivery from the left side of the mound. Fastball had good arm-side run at 71-75 mph. 11/5 type curveball with good action at 59-60 mph and change with sink at 66-68 mph. Athletic actions with footwork and glove fielding the baseball and working around the bag at first base. Threw 70 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. Short stride with a short compact swing creating good back spin on the baseball using the middle of the field from the left side at the plate. Bat speed registered at 78 mph.

Marques Irving, OF/3B, Country Day, 2015

6-foot, 185-pound athletic prospect. Good actions with footwork and glove in the outfield with plus range, threw 78 mph from the outfield. Athletic fluid actions with footwork and glove at third base, tends to field the ball deep in body. Threw 73 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash. Loose whippy hands at the plate creating plus strength in bat, good balance in a gap-to-gap approach. Bat speed registered at 88 mph.

Matt Milstead, C/3B, Lowell HS, 2015

5-foot-10, 170-pound quick twitch prospect. Soft hands making receiving look easy behind the plate with good blocking skills. Good transfers and repeatable foot for a pop time of 1.95-2.07. Good fundamentally sound actions with glove and footwork at third base, throwing 75 mph across the infield. Ran a 6.97 60-yard dash. Good rhythm at the plate with a toe tap stride, creates good bat speed in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Mitchell Kobayashi, C/3B, Grandville HS, 2015

5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect. Shows good range at third base with soft hands, needs to be more aggressive on approach. Threw 76 mph across the infield. Works extremely hard behind the plate blocking balls and communicating well with the pitcher. Narrow stance with good receiving skills. Pop time of 2.06-2.27. Ran a 7.24 60-yard dash. No stride with good rhythm in strong left handed swing. Bat speed registered at 75 mph (has been in upper 80s at other events).

Mitchell Van Schoick, MIF, Vicksburg HS, 2015

 5-foot-11, 155-pound prospect. Great actions with his glove and footwork at shortstop working through the baseball well. Threw 78 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.30 60-yard dash. Rest bat on shoulder in a toe tap stride, gets good extension through the baseball using the middle of the field well. Bat speed registered at 77 mph.

Riley Lynch, LHP/OF, Marquette HS, 2015

5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect. High-¾ arm slot with good balance and rhythm in delivery from the left side of the mound. Fastball had good arm side run at 77-78 mph. Curveball has gradual break at 69-70 mph, slider has sweeping action at 66-70 mph, and changeup with fading action at 74-77 mph. Shows good actions with glove and foot work in the outfield, with an accurate arm at 78 mph. Ran a 7.24 60-yard dash. Closed off stance from the left side, ultra-aggressive approach with good barrel head awareness through the zone. Bat speed registered at 78 mph.

Travis McCormick, 1B, Mason County Eastern HS, 2015

6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect. Hands and feet work well at first base fielding the baseball. Short ¾ arm action throwing 74 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.41 60-yard dash. Narrow stance with backside collapsing in a pull approach at the plate. Bat speed registered at 72 mph.
