Updated Class of 2027 Player Rankings (December)
Throughout the fall we were all over the state, scouting numerous prospects and seeing many new names came to the forefront of the recruiting scene. With that information, we are updating each of our class rankings based off what we have seen. Up now, we take a look at the Class of 2027.
As fall sports come to an end and winter sports season kicks off, we will take a look at "What's New at the Top", "Fall Showcase Standouts", "Prospects To Look At In 2025" and a look some of the top uncommitted prospects by position, and a close look at the Top 10.

What's New In The Top 10
Broder Katke C / 3B / BROTHER RICE HIGH SCHOOL, MI / 2027Report: Katke stays at the Top of the ‘26 rankings hailing from Brother Rice. The Duke recruit had another strong summer on the national circuit - sound defensive catcher who’s still making good gains at the plate. |
Cameron Thorning C / OF / Woodhaven High School, MI / 2027Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 2
Report: Thorning participated in a couple of fall PBRT events in the Metro Detroit area and showed why he’s a top prospect in his class. A strong arm coupled with a physical structure and sound bat - Thorning looks to take good momentum into the offseason. |
Colin Bennett RHP / 1B / Novi, MI / 2027Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 2
Report: Bennett moves up one spot in the Top 10. A lengthy right handed hurler up to 90 at Super Sophomore Games, Bennett looks to take on an important role for Novi this spring. Already a high floor for the Wildcat, he’s just scratching the surface of what is yet to come. |
Fall Showcase Standouts
Seth Hittleman C / OF / Cranbrook, MI / 2027Rankings StateRank: 39 / POS: 5
Report: Another backstop that keeps improving each time we see him. In October Hittleman was a leader in some offensive categories topping 91 mph in BP - also has position flexibility across diamond. |
Memphis Davenport 1B / 3B / Southgate Anderson, MI / 2027Rankings StateRank: 46 / POS: 2
Report: Davenport was a standout at the Fall Top Prospect Games in October. Standing 6-3 185 lbs - showed some pullside power with sound footwork around the bag. He’ll look to take another step in his development this offseason. |
Cole Raetzel 2B / SS / Saline, MI / 2027Rankings StateRank: 96 / POS: 4
Report: Showed progression at Fall TPG in defense and at the plate increasing exit velocity, sweet spot percentage and arm velocity. Still growing into his frame, makes Raetzel an intriguing prospect for the Hornets of Saline heading into the 2025 season. |
Prospects To Look At In 2025
Tyler Gardner C / SS / Dakota, MI / 2027Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 3
Report: Gardner looks to make continued gains this offseason in preparation for a strong spring - a reliable backstop with good bat to ball ability makes Gardner an exciting one to watch for Plouffe's Dakota program. |
Ethan Campbell LHP / 1B / Grand Haven, MI / 2027Rankings StateRank: 26 / POS: 2
Report: Campbell will help anchor a Buccaneer staff at Grand Haven this spring. A good frame with a ¾ slot and some pitch ability - look for Campbell to make noise in the OK-Red. |
Cale Hackenberg C / 3B / Marcellus High School, MI / 2027Rankings StateRank: 30 / POS: 4
Report: A backstop with a rising stock - profiles good size at 6-2, fluid actions behind the plate and has shown flashes of power to the alleys. Look for Hackenberg to have a breakout spring in SW Michigan. |
Carter Harcek RHP / OF / Midland Dow High School, MI / 2027Rankings StateRank: 31 / POS: 10
Report: An emerging prospect over the summer and fall -Harcek comes in at 6’3 with longer limbs and a sturdy frame. |
