2020 OUTLOOK:
After finishing 4th in their first State Tournament appearance last season, the Royals graduated 8 letterwinners but will also have 8 coming back. The starting rotation is still intact, led by senior NIACC commit Garrett McLaughlin, who was 3-0 with an ERA of 0.70 in postseason play in 2019. Junior left-handers Austin Shingledecker and Zac Evenson also return along with senior RHP Luke Chapman and junior RHP Carter Daun. Defensively, the Royals will be led by senior shortstop and Gustavus commit Easton Miller, who paced the Royals offense batting .405 last season. His younger brother, sophomore Miken Miller, will handle the catching duties after winning the starting job as a freshman but having his season cut short due to a hand injury. Senior CF Jonah Maurer will anchor the outfield along with returning letterwinner Nick Smegal. The Royals will depend on a number of seniors to step into big roles this season, including returning letterwinners Logan Kimbler (1B) and Tristan Schultz (2B/SS) along with Nate Harmon (2B/3B) and Evan Braesch (1B).” Head Coach Brian Harapat
