Prep Baseball Report

2025 Minnesota High School Team Previews: Volume II

Andy Judkins
State Director, Prep Baseball Minnesota

Prep Baseball Minnesota strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. Prep Baseball is the number one resource for high school baseball in each state that we cover through various events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work together, creating each state's most potent high school baseball promotion source. While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2025 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

2024 Record: 13-11
X: @WHSBaseballMN

Impact Players:

Key Underclass Players:

Coach's Comment:
"The Royals return a lot of pitching experience and a nice portion of our defense and lineup. Our key will be our ability to apply pressure to our opponents and manufacture runs."

ROGERS ROYALS

Head Coach: Brian Harapat (13 years, 149-133)

Class: 4A
Conference: Northwest Suburban
2024 Record: 15-9
X: @BaseballRoyals

Impact Players:

Coach's Comment:
"Graduating six senior starters, including their top two pitchers who were 13-3 with a combined 1.58 ERA in 110 & 2/3 innings pitched, there will be a lot of new faces in the Royals' lineup this season. After winning the NWSC championship in 3 of the past 4 seasons, including a program best 11-1 in 2024, Rogers will need its young arms and bats to step up to have a chance in 2025. The Royals have appeared in 5 straight Section Championships, winning the first two (2019, 2021) but falling short of the State Tournament the past three seasons."

MINNETONKA SKIPPERS

Head Coach: Paul O. Twenge (50 seasons, 997-945-11 career)

Class: 4A
Conference: Lake
2024 Record: 19-8, Class 4A State Qualifier, 5th Place

CANNON FALLS BOMBERS

Head Coach: Bucky Lindow (27 seasons, 396-306)

Class: 2A
Conference: Hiawatha Valley
2024 Record: 14-12
X: @CFBombersBSB

Impact Players:

Key Underclass Players:

  • Charlie Rustad
  • Jack Shepersky

Coach's Comment:
"We return nearly all of our pitching from last spring. We need to fill a couple spots in the field and lineup, but the guys stepping in have good experience. These are high quality young men, and I can't wait to see what they accomplish together."

REDWOOD VALLEY CARDINALS

Head Coach: Brian Pope (1 season, 10-10)

Class: 2A
Conference: Big South (Small)
2024 Record: 10-10
X: @rvcardsbaseball

Impact Players:

Coach's Comment:
"We return four full time starters from last year and a few others that played significant innings. We lose a decent amount of offense but return the majority of our pitching from last year. Our junior class will have to step up and fill the void left from the departure of last year's seniors. Like last year, defense and pitching will be our strengths in a conference and section that are some of the toughest in 2A baseball."

PINE ISLAND PANTHERS

Head Coach: Dan Drazan (6 seasons, 63-51)

Class: 2A
Conference: Hiawatha Valley
2024 Record: 15-10
X: @PIhardball

Impact Players:

Key Underclass Players:

Coach's Comment:
"Our goals are to get better everyday, and compete for a conference championship. Another big goal is to compete and win a section championship and get over the hump after 4 consecutive trips to the final 4 of section 1 AA. We will be led by our Senior captains Brandon Week and Luke Sems. They will lead us on the mound and at the plate in 2025. We have a very deep Junior class (along with one Sophomore) that have a lot of varsity experience and they will be key to our success as well. Another key to our success this year will be to play well defensively and cut down on our errors from a year ago. We will need our underclassmen to step up and be big contributors offensively, defensively and on the mound."

NEW LIFE ACADEMY EAGLES

Head Coach: John Horner (3 seasons, 38-34)

Class: 1A
Conference: Skyline
2024 Record: 6-19
X: None

Impact Players:

Key Underclass Players:

Coach's Comment:
"We are a young team, but made a lot of progress at the end of the season last year. We should be able to compete in both our conference and section."
