2025 Minnesota High School Team Previews: Volume VI

Prep Baseball Minnesota strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. Prep Baseball is the number one resource for high school baseball in each state that we cover through various events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work together, creating each state's most potent high school baseball promotion source. While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2025 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

ELK RIVER ELKS

Head Coach: Josh Juntunen (2 seasons, 30-19)

Coach's Comment:
"2025 will see us with one returning starting position player and one returning pitcher from the 2024 season. It will be an exciting season with a bunch of talented Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors ready to take on some big roles. We won the VFW State Championship this past summer and our Legion team was 23-10. We are excited with the players we have."

CHISHOLM BLUESTREAKS

"Undoubtedly, this is the most returning starters we'd ever had. Guys that have contributed at the varsity level as freshmen and sophomores are now juniors and seniors. This experience should help us greatly. As always, pitching depth will be key and we we need to solidify a couple of those spots.  This group loves baseball and I am excited to see what they accomplish this year."

PRIOR LAKE LAKERS

Head Coach: Zach Hendrikson (1 season, 18-7)

Coach's Comment:
"As most years in Prior Lake, our pitching and defense will be the strength of our team. Our starting rotation will have a good mix of seniors and some impact arms from our underclassmen. Offensively, our identity remains to be seen. I think this group will thrive on creating some chaos on the base paths and playing solid small ball, with the ability to run it out of the yard every once in a while."

LAKEVILLE SOUTH COUGARS

Head Coach: Brent Goracke (1 season, 7-15)

"Our pitching will be stronger this year gaining ground in age and strength. We have a lot of underclassmen coming back that played consistently on varsity in 2024."

"We plan to compete in every game and improve our record as a team based on last year. We have a hardworking group of upperclassmen who will be role models for our talented underclassmen group. We could see a lot of underclassmen making impacts at the varsity level in 2025."

Coach's Comment:
"We are very excited to see how the 2025 season unfolds for us. We have made back to back state tournaments from 8AAA as well as back to back state tournaments in VFW in the summer, so we have a team full of kids that know what it takes to win. We return most of our starting lineup from last season, and should have 6 strong arms on the mound. We will see strong competition in our conference with St Cloud Cathedral and Albany returing strong teams, and Foley is always going to run out a strong team. Our section will once again be very balanced, with Willmar and Hutchinson returning strong teams, Alexandria and Rocori with large talented classes, and look for Fergus Falls to surprise some teams with a young and talented roster."
