Joe Longo - Michigan

PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

Longo: I chose Michigan because of the winning culture and learning environment. With one of the best coaching staffs in the country I knew that I would be able to excel there.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Longo: I was considering Southern California and Pepperdine.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Longo:  The coaching staff first saw me at the PBR Midwest Procase event. From then on, we communicated through call and FaceTime and built a great relationship.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Longo: Yes, I am very much relieved, recruitment is a stressful thing that I am happy to be done with.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Longo: The deciding factor was the coaching staff. I heard only great things about the work ethic and the leadership. While watching the 2019 national championship I loved the energy and attitude everyone brought to the table.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

Longo: My parents have helped me the most, from late night car rides to buying me a new glove. I would not be where I am right now without them.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Longo:  The recruiting process was difficult at times. You know it’s a big process that doesn’t happen overnight. There were a lot of times I questioned if I am doing the right things and just had to trust that everything would turn out.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Longo: For my freshman season the coaching staff plans to have me rotate in and earn my spot in the lineup through work in the weight room, on the field, and through leadership.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Longo: My most memorable baseball moment was hitting a game tying 3 run home run freshman year in the section semifinal.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

Longo: The best player I have ever competed against was RHP Gavin Bergman.
