Minnesota Draft Preview

By Rob Allison and Nathan Rode

The 2016 Major League Draft takes place June 9-11. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

Minnesota has had two preps go in the top 10 rounds in the past four years and could have its highest pick since RHP Mitch Brown (Century HS, MN) went in the second to the Indians. Earning that distinction would be RHP Nick Hanson (Prior Lake HS, MN), a 6-foot-6, 210-pound righty committed to Kentucky.

PBR Draft 100 Prospects

31. Nick Hanson, RHP, Prior Lake HS, MN
Hanson, a Kentucky recruit, broke out at the ProCase last summer, where he sat 91-93 mph in a one-inning stint. His height (6-foot-6) and high-3/4 slot creates a steep plane and his fastball has heavy, late finish.
