The PBR MN Prospect ID- West Fargo event took place on Sunday, August 11, 2019. The event was held at Young Field in West Fargo, ND. The event featured prospects from the 2020 through 2023 grad classes; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance. Thank you to the players, parents, my staff; along with the staff from West Fargo Legion for such a great event.

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the PBR MN Prospect ID- West Fargo event.

infieldER EVALUATIONS (ALPHA)

Chrisanto D’Agostino, 3B/RHP, Moorhead, 2020
5-foot-7, 195-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.41 runner. Wide and open stance with relaxed hands.  Rhythm in load.  Strides to square with shoulder load.  Aggressive swing with slightly uphill swing plane.  Mid/ pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Solid consistent contact with pull pop.  90 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average feet and works around ball to field.  Funnels.  Good glove with sure hands.  84 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy.  On mound- Rocker step and slides to other side of rubber.  Gets to balance position and quicker tempo down mound.  Lands slightly across body.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot with a quick arm action.  Fastball is straight thrown at 81-83 mph topping at 84 mph.  Curveball is for strikes with 11/5 break and average spin and shape at 72-74 mph.  Change-up is straight at 77-79 mph. 

Jacob Dick, 2B, Thompson (ND), 2020
6-foot, 165-pound left-handed hitting second baseman.  7.56 runner.  Slightly open crouched stance.  Strides to square with hand load back.  Average swing plane with some strength in swing.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Consistent contact and flashed pop in barrel.  82 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average actions.  Good feet and works around baseball.  Clean glove and fields ball out front.  Makes routine play.  75 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy. 

Matt Friesen, C/SS, St. Cloud Tech, 2021
5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.30 runner.  Shoulder width slightly open stance.  Leg lift to start and hand load back.  Flatter swing plane.  Middle approach with mainly line drive contact.  Consistent contact with average barrel.  83 mph exit velocity.  IF- Attacks ball with average feet.  Fields ball deep and makes routine play.  Good carry and accuracy with 83 mph arm strength.  C- Squared stance with light feet when receiving.  Glove has pre pitch movement and can be late to pitches.  Works low to high with average glove.  Average exchange and stands up to release.  Good footwork.  2.01-2.07 pop times with good arm action.  76 mph arm strength with good carry and average accuracy. 

Joseph Grabanski, 1B/OF, Grand Forks Central (ND), 2020
6-foot, 245-pound right-handed hitting first baseman.   7.39 runner.  Open balanced stance.  Knee to knee load and hand load back.  Bigger aggressive swing.  Flat swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Solid contact and flashed pull pop with strength in barrel.  98 mph exit velocity.  OF- Good feet to field and into release.  Clean glove and fields through ball.  Longer arm action.  74 mph arm strength with average carry and good accuracy.  IF- Good feet and works around ball to field.  Average glove and makes routine play.  72 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy. 

Skyler Hoard, RHP/SS, West Fargo Sheyenne (ND), 2021
6-foot-1, 146-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.72 runner.  Squared balanced stance.  Hands load back and small stride to start.  Arm bar creating length to contact.  Swing plane works down to contact with short stiff finish.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Inconsistent contact with 74 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average feet and attacks ball.  Glove is stiff and tends to field ball deep.  Low arm slot on release.  Average carry and accuracy with 73 mph arm strength.  On mound- Turns right into balance point.  Lands with a short stride down mound.  Throws from a low ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is straight with slight cut at times at 68-71 mph topping at 72 mph.  Curveball has 10/4 break with average shape thrown down in the zone at 59-61 mph.  Change-up has slight fade with push release at 59-62 mph.

Braxton Jorissen, SS/RHP, Valley City (ND), 2022
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.80 runner.  Athletic frame.  Slight open balanced stance.  Hand load back and stride to square.  Some rhythm in load.  Lower half gets through swing well.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Average contact with consistent barrel.  80 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average feet to ball and long to field.  Fields ball deep with average glove.  71 mph arm strength with average carry and below average accuracy.  On mound- Rocker step into turn and leg lift.  Good tempo through delivery.  Slight stab behind in arm action.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is straight at 70-72 mph topping at 73 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with average shape thrown at 62-63 mph.  Change-up has some fade at 65-67 mph.

Chas Melvin, RHP/SS, Perham, 2022
5-foot-10, 151-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.45 runner.  Open stance with high handset.  Compress load.  Hand load back and stride to square.  Aggressive swing.  Flat swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average contact and barrel.  79 mph exit velocity.  IF- Attacks ball with some squat to field.  Glove is stiff.  78 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On mound- Rocker step and into delivery.  Lands down mound slightly across body.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot with loose clean arm action.  Fastball has varying at 77-80 mph.  Curveball has 10/4 break at bottom of zone with average spin and shape thrown at 65-67 mph.  Change-up has inconsistent feel at 69-71 mph.

Parker Monette, OF/SS, Red River (ND), 2020
6-foot, 168-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  6.84 runner.  Open stance.  Strides to square with had load back.  Slight arm bar at times.  Flat swing plane with short finish.  Mid/pull approach ground ball and line drive contact.  Average contact with strength in barrel.  94 mph exit velocity.  OF- Athletic feet and moves well to field.  Good glove and fields ball clean.  81 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  IF- Works around ball to field with athletic feet.  Average glove and makes routine play.  Average carry and accuracy with 74 mph arm strength.

Clay Odenbach, LHP/1B, Thompson (ND), 2020
6-foot-7, 190-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.82 runner.  Balanced and open setup. Hand load back and strides to square.  Easy swing with slightly uphill swing plane. Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average contact and flashed pop.  85 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average feet and works around baseball to field.  Average glove and makes routine play.  75 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On mound- Tall and lanky frame.  Easy delivery.  Shorter stride down mound.  Back side just falls through.  Good tempo.  Throws from a ¾ arm action.  Fastball has some life thrown at 78-80 mph.  Curveball has 1/7 break with small shape thrown at 67-69 mph.  Slider has 2/8 break with small shape at 70-71 mph.  Change-up is firm with slight run at 74-76 mph.  interesting 2020 arm, possible Spring follow.

Brody Sorenson, 3B/RHP, Red River (ND), 2020
6-foot-3, 215-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.33 runner.  Balanced and slightly open stance.  Some rhythm to load.  Leg lift and hand load back.  Some strength to swing.  Middle approach with ground ball to fly ball contact.  Average barrel and flashed pull pop.  91 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet can be slow to field.  Makes routine play.  Funnels with glove.  Average accuracy with good carry.  81 mph arm strength.  On mound- Simple and easy delivery.  Good tempo.  Lands slightly across body and tends to fall off glove side.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is straight at 82-83 mph topping at 84 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with average shape and spin thrown at 69-70 mph.  Will hook at times.  Change-up is thrown with average feel and has down action at 74-76 mph. 

Anthony Villanueva, SS/RHP, West Fargo (ND), 2020
5-foot-4, 150-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.33 runner.  Open stance with high handset.  Knee to knee and hand load back.  Swing stays through zone.  Middle approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Consistent contact with average barrel.  64 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average feet and works around ball to field.  Solid glove and fields ball clean.  83 mph arm strength and average accuracy with good carry.  On mound- Rocker step and slides down rubber.  Tuck and go down mound.  Throws across body.  Average tempo.  Throws with some effort from a ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is straight at 79-81 mph topping at 82 mph.  Curveball has hard 11/5 break with good spin at 71-73 mph.  Change-up is straight and firm at 77-79 mph. 

Aiden Wolf, SS, West Fargo (ND), 2023
5-foot-5, 116-pound right-handed hitting short stop.  8.20 runner.  Open relaxed stance.  Strides to square with hand load back.  Tends to arm bar.  Stays over backside through swing.  Good swing plane.  Solid approach with line drive contact.  Consistent contact with weaker barrel.  71 mph exit velocity. IF- Raw at times.   Average glove and makes routine play.  Average feet and works around baseball.  Average accuracy with fade carry.  64 mph arm strength.  Added strength will help with overall development.
