Q&A With 2015 U. Wisconsin- Oshkosh Commit: Jonny Selchow

UA Reyes Vertical Ad

Jonny Selchow, 3B, Eastview, Class of 2015

PBR:  Why did you choose the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh?
SELCHOW: I chose UWO because ever since I was a little kid I've wanted to play college ball. After visiting UWO and meeting the coaches I knew that it would give me the best opportunity to do so. The team has great history and is willing to do anything to be successful.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?
SELCHOW: I am just excited to be a Titan next fall. It’s the best place for me.

PBR:  Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?
SELCHOW: They first saw me at a showcase over this past summer. After a few phone calls with the head coach and a visit to the school, I could tell that UWO was the place for me.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
SELCHOW: My dad has by far had the biggest impact on me as a ball player. He's been hitting me ground balls and throwing me BP ever since I could pick up a bat. He's taught me everything I know about hard work and determination and I'm very fortunate.

PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?
SELCHOW: Over the summer I did a lot of speed and agility work as well as working on hitting the ball the other way.

PBR: Who is the toughest player that you have faced in Minnesota?
SELCHOW: The toughest player I've faced would be Jake Irvin from Bloomington Jefferson who's committed to Oklahoma. He's dominant on the mound with good velocity and nasty off speed.

PBR:  What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for future players in your position.
SELCHOW: I would say go where you feel that you will have the most opportunity and success. That's what I did and I'm very happy with my decision and can't wait for next year.
