The Hotlist: 2016 Players Of The Year

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

In the latest Hotlist, each of Prep Baseball Report’s state directors looks back at the 2016 season and names their player of the year.

Arkansas: LHP/OF Evan Lee (Bryant HS, 2016)
Lee, a 6-foot-1, 185-pounder, posted a 9-0 record and 0.54 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 54 innings pitched this spring. He was also productive with the bat, hitting .462 with three home runs and 31 RBIs. The Arkansas recruit anchored the middle of the lineup for Bryant, which finished 30-2 on the way to a 7A state championship. Lee was named the state championship game MVP after hitting a decisive home run late. He’ll have an opportunity to play both ways for the Razorbacks. His fastball sits 86-89 mph on the mound with late arm-side run and he mixes in a curveball with 12/6 action at 72-74. He has also shown feel for a changeup in the low 70s. As a position player, he’s a physical athlete and can run the 60 in 6.7 seconds. He attacks the baseball with a compact, quick swing.
