2015 INF Ian Nelson names his school

By Sean Duncan
Executive Director

Ian NelsonIan Nelson, a Class of 2015 left-handed hitting middle infielder from Timberland HS, has committed to the Missouri. Nelson’s commitment marks the second 2015 Missouri prospect to pick his school, and the first member of Team Missouri at the Midwest Future Games.

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Nelson was one of the clear middle infield standouts at the Midwest Future Games in August. Offensively, he has a balanced and easy left-handed swing, one that is quick and compact. Defensively, he has excellent hands, fields the ball with rhythm and has an extremely quick transfer. Although he plays a natural second base, he has the arm strength (82 mph across the infield) to play shortstop and third base.

Nelson, who’s ranked No. 8 in Missouri’s 2015 class, continued to show extremely well at the Prep Baseball Report Labor Day Challenge, where he helped lead the Gamers to a 4-0 record. Nelson made several stellar plays in the field – from second, shortstop and third – and turned multiple double plays with teammate Storme Cooper (Timberland HS).

Nelson joins RHP/3B Clayton McGinness (Savannah HS) as the only two 2015 Missouri commitments. McGinness is committed to Wichita State.
