2015 Spotlight: C/OF Blake Moore (Liberty North)

Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director

Blake Moore (Liberty North, 2015) is a solidly built 5-foot-10 185-pound C/OF and is ranked #23 in Missouri.  He has a position velo of 81 from behind the dish and 87 from the outfield.  His pop-time is 1.88-2.02 and has a 7.23 60-time.  At the plate, Moore has strong hands, creating some barrel whip through the zone that produces hard line droves with some backspin carry.

Moore gave us a chance to see what was going on with his recruiting process before he attends the Pre-Season All-Sate Showcase on February 17 at 68's Inside Sports.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Moore: I have just begun the recruiting process. The first school to show interest has been the Creighton Blue Jays. I have also had communications with Arkansas, Miami, K-State and Texas, however nothing serious yet.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the nearfuture? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Moore: No, I have not had any visits; however I look forward to beginning the process in the near future.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Moore: The most important things I’m looking for in a school are a quality education and baseball program. I also want to make sure that the school has degrees in the fields of my interest, which are Health, Wellness, and Fitness and Psychology.

PBR: How did you do your sophomore year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Moore: Most important was our team won conference this year for the first time in school history. Our team ERA was 2.93 and I threw out 65% of attempting base runners.

PBR; What are you goals for your junior/senior season?

Moore: My goals for my Junior/Senior season are as a team to have a winning season and to go to State. My personal goals are to have a team ERA under 2, to hit more consistently throughout the season, throw out 90% of base runners, and to be an All State catcher.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Moore: My summer team is Building Champions (Jeremy Jones) and will also play for them this fall.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Moore: I played football for the last three years but have decided to focus only on baseball during my senior year.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

I just took the ACT in December and scored a 21, but will retake it in April. My current GPA is a 3.22.
