Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

The Missouri high school baseball season kicks off on Mar. 20, opening day for regular season action under MSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Missouri Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2025 preseason coverage continues today.

Top Returners:

  • C Nolan Laughlin (2025; Lincoln) - 5'7" 160 lbs, R/R
    • 4-year starter. He will be one of our key leaders and contributors this season. Honorable Mention All-State as a Junior.
  • LHP/1B/OF Hayden Lackman (2026) - 6'2" 205 lbs, L/L
    • He was our #2 starter last year as well as middle of the lineup hitter. We are looking for him to be even better this season. Honorable Mention All-State as a Sophomore.
  • 3B Warren Davis (2026) - 6'0" 180 lbs, R/R
    • 3-year starter. Warren started in CF as a freshman before moving to 3B last year. He is a very good defensive player and was our leadoff hitter at the end of the season. He was the catalyst for our offense in the postseason. Honorable Mention All State.
  • SS Evan McCullough (2025) - 5'9" 160 lbs, R/R
    • 3-year starter. Uncommitted. Very good defensive SS, played huge in the Final 4.
  • RHP/OF Zane Halford (2025) - 6'2" 195 lbs, R/R
    • Uncommitted. In the starting rotation last year. Had a save in the quarterfinals and State Finals.
  • RHP/1B Wyatt Libbert (2027) - 6'3" 190 lbs, R/R

  • RHP/INF Nolan DeMilia (2025; Moberly Area CC) - 5'8" 140 lbs, R/R
    • He had some big innings out of the pen last year. We look for him to have a bigger role this season.
  • LHP/OF Vander Halford (2027) - 6'2" 170 lbs, L/L
    • He worked his way into the lineup at the end of the season and had a huge 6th inning, RBI triple to tie the game up in the District Final.

Key Players Lost:

Coach’s Insight: “Without a doubt the biggest strength of our team is going to our depth across the board. We have a few guys who could potentially be stars, however we have a bunch of kids who are competitive and can help us win games. Everything in our program starts on the mound. This year will be no different. We have 9 pitchers who got outs for our team last year coming back, including 3 rotation pitchers. We have a lot of guys who will give different looks and we should be able to keep people off balanced. I also feel our infield defense is a big strength. We return our starting catcher, third baseman and short stop who were really good for us last year. I feel we have some guys who can defend on the right side of the infield as well. Without a doubt our weakness is on the offensive side. We did not have a great season as a whole offensively. However, we did perform our best late in the post season so hopefully that is a sign of things to come. If we want to repeat as champions this year we without a doubt have to score more runs. As an offense we have to a great job of manufacturing runs through baserunning and bunting. Hopefully, we will be better with runners in scoring position as well. I would like to see us play better defense in the outfield as well. The potential is there in both of these areas. We just have to find a way to get it done.” – Mike DeMilia, head coach
