Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK

No. of Returning Position Players: 12
No. of Returning Pitchers: 9

Top Returners:

  • OF Nolen Geitz (2025; William Jewell) - 6’4”, 190, R/L
    • Nolen Geitz returns as our most experienced player and one of our team leaders. He has started a lot of games in centerfield and been a cornerstone of our offense since his sophomore year. I look for Nolen to take a step forward and have a great season for us at the plate.
  • OF/P Gavin Thomason (2027) - 5’11”, 195, R/R
    • Gavin Thomason had a tremendous freshman season for us, showing great 5-tool potential. He had 3 home runs and broke our school record for stolen bases in a season with 38. I am excited about his potential off the mound and look for him to take on a bigger role there this year.
  • P/C Brock Boatwright (2025) - 5’11”, 175, R/R
    • Brock Boatwright has won some big games for us the past couple of years. He leads our pitching staff with experience and competitiveness. When not pitching, he is our primary catcher. Brock should take a step forward at the plate with added strength.
  • SS/P Spensar Seiger (2025) - 6’3”, 185, R/R
    • Spensar Seiger is the ultimate competitor on our team. He returns as a two-year starter at shortstop while amassing over 80 innings pitched over the past couple of seasons. He will be a key piece to our team if we want to accomplish our goals.
  • 1B Brock Bruner (2025) - 6’2”, 195, L/L
    • Brock Bruner took a great step forward last year. He was aggressive at the plate, picking up some key RBIs over the course of the season while improving defensively at first base.
  • P/OF Carson Krider (2025) - 5’11”, 175, R/R
    • Carson Krider has quietly been a key player for us the past couple of seasons. He is another pitcher that brings a lot of experience to the mound. We feel confident we can compete with anyone when he is on the mound for us.
  • MIF/P Jakoeby McDannald (2026) - 5’9”, 165, L/R
    • Jakoeby McDannald really finished strong at the plate last year in his sophomore season. He is a confident player that can play both middle infield positions. I am excited to see his role increase as a pitcher as a potential late-game reliever.
  • UTL Harrison Martin (2027) - 5’8”, 160, R/R
    • Harrison Martin is a true utility player for us and had a solid freshman season. He is our primary backup catcher but will earn time in the outfield as well. He will have an opportunity to be a key piece at the top of our lineup going forward.
  • 2B/1B Atticus Brandes (2025) - 6’2”, 170, R/R
    • Atticus Brandes brings intangibles and winning characteristics that every team needs. His ability to anticipate plays defensively is hard to teach. He puts the team first and will have the opportunity to have a key role on this team.
  • P/OF Macklen Johnson (2026) - 5’11”, 165, L/L
    • Macklen Johnson is our most experienced left handed pitcher and is working hard on increasing his role. He is a dependable outfielder and brings winning intangibles to the team.
  • P/CIF Kellan Kirkpatrick (2025) - 6’4”, 180, R/R
    • Kellan Kirkpatrick will look to build upon a strong summer at the plate and off the mound. He will compete for our starting 3rd base position. He will be very effective for us out of the bullpen.
  • OF/C Wyatt Hallam (2027) - 5’8”, 170, R/R
    • Wyatt Hallam is a quick-twitch athlete who will compete for a starting outfield position. He is an aggressive baserunner who had a key role as our courtesy runner last season.

Key Players Lost:

Coach’s Insight: “I am really looking forward to seeing these guys compete. Our team strength will be our depth and returning experience. We have several seniors who have been partial or full-time starters since their sophomore year. Throw in some talented sophomores and juniors, and we have a lot of quality options for a class 3 team. We feel comfortable with 9 to 11 different players being able to pitch for us at the varsity level. I could see 12 or 13 guys competing to be in the lineup, which should make for some exciting practices and position battles. Defensively, I think we could take a step forward in our double-play efficiency. There were several missed opportunities to get two outs due to our slow turns at second base. I would also like to see us do a better job of throwing out baserunners and eliminating those extra bases. Although we will face a lot of quality pitchers, I would like to see our strikeout numbers decrease this season. Better focus with our 2-strike approach will go a long way over the course of the season. ” – William Reed, head coach
