Building Champions Scout Day: Outfielders Analysis

On January 27, Prep Baseball Report - Kansas/Missouri held the Building Champions Scout Day.  Nearly 50 players attended in the 2021 to 2018 classes. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the outfielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Outfielders

Isaac Ammann OF / SS / Mill Valley, KS / 2020

Amman is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 6.91 60 and has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts open, reverse toe tap, pre-pitch rhythm in hands, in line stride, middle of the field contact during hitting evaluations, quick bat speed.  In the outfield, 80 mph positional velocity, over the top release, plays through the catch, gains momentum to throw, glove to hand exchange on time with footwork, fluid actions through the ball.

Jake Beauchamp OF / RHP / Raymore-Peculiar, MO / 2019

Beauchamp is a 5-foot-11 145-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.20 60 and has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, athletic set up, smooth load with no wasted movement, controlled leg lift, accelerates hands to contact, works inside the ball, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 88 mph positional velocity, loose over the top arm action, works behind the ball and through the catch, smooth exchange with momentum to throw.

Andrew Couse OF / 2B / Blue Valley West, KS / 2019

Couse is a 5-foot-7 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class. He ran a 7.01 home to first and has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with wide base, minimal stride, quiet hands, level path through extension, solid gap to gap contact.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velocity, over the top release, small crow hop before release, fluid exchange with fluid footwork, clean arm action.

Joseph Daneff SS / OF / Park Hill, MO / 2019

Daneff is a 5-foot-10 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.63 60 and has an 80 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, open stance, lifts bat off shoulder to load, short in line stride, controlled body, swing produced mostly middle of the field contact during hitting evaluations.  On the outfield, 84 mph positional velocity, over the top release, crow hop, loose arm action, works behind the ball, creates momentum after catch and clean exchange.

Tate Gillen OF / LHP / Blue Valley, KS / 2021

Gillen is a 6-foot 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.33 60 and had an 83 mph exit velocity .  At the plate, balanced set up, consistent hard contact gap to gap during batting practice, some natural lift to bat path, feel for the barrel, repeats swing, body stays under control, loose and quick hands.  Did not work out in the outfield.

Zachary Guertin 2B / OF / Blue Valley SouthWest, KS / 2019

Guertin is a 5-foot-10 145-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.20 60 and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with wide base, keeps stride foot low working in reverse toe tap, in line stride, creates direction down the line of the pitch, loose and quick hands, level bat path, works inside the ball.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velocity, over the top release, quick catch and throw, throws right-handed, works behind the ball, clean transfer.

Nate Hassed OF / OF / Blue Valley North , KS / 2019

Hassed is a 5-foot-9 160-pound left handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 6.81 60 and has an 82 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts loaded on back side, controlled leg lift, minimal load, compact swing, pull to middle line drive during hitting evaluations, flashing the ability to go the other way.  On the outfield, 82 mph positional velocity, high three-quarters arm slot, quick catch and throw, creates momentum working behind the ball and through the catch, quick and athletic actions. 

William Hudler OF / 3B / Blue Valley West, KS / 2020

Hudler is a 6-foot-2 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.32 60 and has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, smooth pre-pitch rhythm in hands, hands walk away from in line stride, aggressive bat speed, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, over the top release, small crow hop to create momentum, fluid exchange, 74 mph positional velocity, takes efficient route behind be ball, long and lean frame capable of adding more strength.

Joseph LaBella 1B / RHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2021

LaBella is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 7.53 60 and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, minimal load, short stride, hands manage the bat, works ball gap to gap.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, quick transfer, 74 mph positional velocity, strong build.

Cooper Marsh OF / 1B / Mill Valley, KS / 2021

Marsh is a 5-foot-11 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.40 home to first and has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slightly closed stride, smooth pre-pitch rhythm, weight shift in lower half and hands to load, mostly pull side contact during hitting evals, hands create bat whip.  In the outfield, 73 mph positional velocity, fluid actions, over the top release, plays though the ball with momentum, clean exchanges.

Marco Martin OF / RHP / Excelsior Springs, MO / 2019

Martin is a 5-foot-8 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.28 60 and has an 88 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load and acceleration to the ball, in line stride, quick hands with feel for barrel, middle of the field contact during hitting evals, compact swing.  In the outfield, 81 mph positional velocity, over the top arm slot, quick actions in transfer and feet, small crow hop, plays through the ball, strong build.

Max Pawela OF / LHP / Park Hill, MO / 2021

Pawela is a 5-foot-10 150-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.70 home to first and has a 76 mph exit velocity. At the plate, athletic set up, slightly crouched, minimal load, short stride, hands manage the barrel, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange, fluid actions with foot and transfer on time, throws with momentum though the catch.

Garrett Pennington SS / OF / Shawnee Mission West, KS / 2019

Pennington is a 6-foot 195-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.44 60 and has a 90 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with open stance, raises bat of shoulder as he strides, strides slightly closed at times, level bat path, quick bat speed, strong hands generate bat whip, gap to gap approach, occasional pull power.  In the outfield, 83 mph positional velocity, over the top release, quick glove to hand transfer, momentum after the catch, plays behind and through the ball.

Gavin Rein 3B / OF / Olathe South, KS / 2020

Rein is a lean 6-foot-2 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.22 60 and has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts wide and slightly open in base, minimal hand movement in load, loads weight against back side, short stride, level bat path with gap to gap line drives during hitting evaluations.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange, aggressive to the ball, plays through the catch, quick release after catch.

Ike Summerlin OF / 1B / Blue Valley West, KS / 2020

Summerlin is a strong and athletically built 6-foot-3 200—pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.32 60 and has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, simple and repeatable swing mechanics, loose hands, showed strength in hitting evals, quick and aggressive bat speed, smooth rhythm to swing.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velocity, over the top release, athletic actions, clean transfer on time with momentum in footwork, works around and through the catch.

Trenton Trieb RHP / OF / Blue Springs South , MO / 2021

Trieb is a 5-foot-11 186-pound right handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.52 60 and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slight pre-pitch rhythm in hands, simple in line stride, hands generate bat speed, level path through the zone, gap to gap approach. In the outfield, 82 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange, crow hop to create momentum to throw, fluid actions.

Jaxson Webb RHP / OF / Lawrence Free State, KS / 2019

Webb is a long and lean 6-foot-4 190-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class. He ran a 7.35 60 and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, controlled load against back side, hands separate from stride, loose and free hands with level bat path, mostly middle to pull side contact during hitting evals.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, loose arm whip, works through the ball, exchange on time with footwork, work behind and through the catch.
