Clever ROTB Tournament Preview

The 2013 ROTB Tournament is schedule to begin Monday, March 18 and run through Saturday, March 23 with participating teams from Southwest Missouri. This tournament was cancelled due to rain last year, and the participating teams are eager to get on the field and compete this year.

The favorite to take home the championship is Preseason No. 19, Clever. Coming off of a 3rd place Class 2 finish in 2012, the Blue Jays are looking to make another run for a state championship. Top players for Clever include: RHP/C Chance Wolfe, RHP Bryce Wilson, RHP/INF Tyler Martin and 1B Ranger Curtis

Looking to upset Clever include Forsyth and Reeds Springs. Top players from these teams include Derek Hurst and Jay Kaufman from Clever, as well as John Locke from Reeds Springs.

Strafford, Mt. Vernon, and Conway all feature young talent, and are wildcards to come home with a tournament championship. Look for Jacob Wade from Strafford to be a difference maker.

There should be good competition in this tournament with four teams winning at least 17 games in 2012 (Conway, Clever, Mt. Vernon, and Forsyth) and have quite a few returning players.

We will bring you scores and game highlights as we receive them, so check back.
