Early Draft Risers

The 2019 MLB Draft is a little more than 10 weeks away. The weather is warming up—though not really drying—and high school seasons in northern states are getting underway. With an update to the 2019 Overall Rankings last week and midway point of the spring approaching, The Hotlist is here to highlight prospects whose stock is trending upward.

Naturally, much of the early season focus is on states like California, Florida, Georgia and Texas, as they get going in February and already have 15 or more games under their belt at this point. In Texas, the high school class is showing no signs of being down with a deep crop of high-end arms and some big hitters with first-round aspirations. RHP J.J. Goss (Cypress Ranch HS, TX) was already very highly regarded, but he has vaulted himself into the top 10 with a stellar start to the year. The Texas A&M recruit has been missing barrels with 91-94 mph fastball and devastating, low-80s slider.
