JUCO Wire: 2022 JUCO HEAT

Mike Rosenbaum

Prep Baseball Report’s JUCO Wire team, led by former Houston Astros scouting director Tad Slowik, has seen more Junior College teams and players this season than ever before, especially at the NJCAA Divs. I & II levels. With the additional scouting opportunities, PBR laid eyes on some of the hardest-throwing pitchers in the country.

RHP Jacob Misiorowski (Crowder) headlines the 2022 JUCO Heat Sheet after the LSU recruit dialed it up to 100 mph while sitting 97-98 over five innings against Jefferson County on April 23. Misiorowski is just the third Junior College pitcher since 2018 to reach triple digits, joining an exclusive group featuring Josh Breaux (100 mph; McLennan, spring 2018), a Yankees second-round pick in ‘18, and 2020 Cubs fourth-round pick Luke Little (100; San Jac, fall 2019).

RHP Mat Peters (Ivy Tech), a Miami (OH) recruit, is the newest addition to the list, checking in behind Misiorowski with a 98-mph heater, followed by RHP Jake Madden (NW Florida St.) and RHP Tyler Woessner (Central Arizona) at 97.

In total, 16 Junior College hurlers have been clocked at 95 mph or above so far this season.

As always, only pitchers seen by PBR scouts are eligible for JUCO Heat.
