MOKAN Fall Trials: Infielder Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Missouri/Kansas held the MOKAN Fall Trials on Saturday, September 28 at the Urban Youth Academy in Kansas City, Missouri.  Over forty players from region participated.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a

Here is a closer look at the infielders from the event, listed in alphabetical order.

Infielders

Lee Allen SS / 2B / Lincoln College Prep, MO / 2021

Allen is a 5-foot-8, 160-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. Allen has a stocky build, strong frame and makes athletic actions defensively. During batting practice, 84 mph exit velocity, starts in an athletic posture and remains throughout, easy swing that he repeats, balanced throughout, some rhythm to hands, contact to all fields during round. On the infield, fluid footwork, clean transfers, three-quarter release, accurate throws across the infield, positional velocity tops at 75 mph.

Landen Baker SS / RHP / Nemaha Central , KS / 2021

Baker is a long and lean 6-foot, 150-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Baker ran a 7.78 second 60 and 5.01 home-to-first. At the plate, exit velocity of 80 mph, starts in an upright posture, quiet load, in line stride, quick hands, aggressive back hip, uphill tilt to swing, primarily pop fly contact sprayed to all fields during batting practice. On the infield, attacks the baseball, clean transfers, moves well side-to-side, low three-quarter release, mostly accurate throws, 72 mph positional velo.

Adam Consiglio RHP / 1B / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2020

Consiglio is a 6-foot, 205-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 7.94 second 60 and a 4.80 home-to-first. At the plate, Consiglio posted an exit velocity of 90 mph, starts slightly open at the plate, simple weight shift in to his load position, some rhythm to his hands, longer but in line stride, leverages front side, quick bat, looks to lift the baseball, primarily fly ball contact during batting practice. On the infield, quick off the base, fluid footwork, clean transfers, positional velocity of 70 mph, accurate throws across the infield.

Seldon Deemer OF / 3B / Shawnee Mission North, KS / 2022

Deemer is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and corner infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 7.69 second 60 and 4.96 home-to-first. At the plate, Deemer posted an exit velocity of 79 mph, athletic stance, slightly opened, minimal load with hands, in line stride, some rhythm with hands, leverages front side, showed a middle of the field approach during batting practice. On the infield, Deemer has clean transfers, momentum towards target, range to his glove side, positional velocity of 67 mph, accurate throws.

Dakota Duran C / 2B / Shawnee Mission West, KS / 2021

Duran shows a stocky build at 5-foot-9, 150 pounds, and is a right-handed hitting catcher and middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event, Duran ran a 7.63 second 60 and a 4.97 home-to-first. At the plate, posted an exit velocity of 89 mph, starts in an upright posture, quiet load, in line stride quick hands, repeats swing, produced hard gap-to-gap contact during batting practice. On the infield, Duran shows some athletic actions, range to forehand and backhand sides, clean transfers, over the top release, positional velo of 75 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Nathan Golubski 2B / 3B / Piper, KS / 2021

Golubski is a 5-foot-8, 155-pound, right-handed hitting infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. Golubski has a short and stocky frame, athletic build and shows quick actions at the plate and on the infield. He ran a 7.00 second 60 and 4.65 home-to-first. At the plate, posted an exit velocity of 90 mph, athletic stance, leg lift, longer and in line stride, quick hands, smooth and repeatable swing, sprayed contact during batting practice and showed hard contact to left field. On the infield, quick feet, good range to backhand and forehand, hand tap with transfers, three-quarter release, positional velo of 73 mph across the infield, accurate throws.

Joshua Holmes OF / 3B / Shawnee Mission West, KS / 2021

Holmes is as 5-foot-11, 155-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 7.01 second 60 and 4.19 home-to-first. At the plate, posted an exit velocity of 91 mph, starts with an open stance, leg lift into load, short and in line stride, smooth load with hands, short and compact swing, during batting practice Holmes showed contact to the middle of the field and his pull side. On the infield, Holmes shows some athletic movements, quick transfer to throw, three-quarter release, momentum towards target, positional velo of 70 mph, accurate throws.

Robbie Keener C / 3B / Abilene , KS / 2021

Keener is a strong and physical 5-foot-11, 205-pound, right-handed hitting catcher and corner infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. Keener ran a 7.88 second 60 and 4.90 home-to-first. At the plate, posted an exit velocity of 85 mph, starts in an upright stance, quiet load with hands, leverages front side, showed fly ball contact with some pop during round. On the infield, Keener moves well for his size, clean arm action, accurate throws, positional velo of 69 mph.

Peyton Lewis SS / 2B / Blue Springs , MO / 2020

Lewis is a 5-foot-7, 150-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2020 class. Lewis runs a 7.45 second 60 and a 4.83 home-to-first. During hitting evaluations, exit velocity of 84 mph, athletic stance at the plate, simple load, quiet with hands, easy swing with minimal effort, in line stride, aggressive back hip, ball jumps off barrel during batting practice with hard contact to center and left field. On the infield, Lewis has athletic actions, fluid footwork, arm works, three-quarter release, clean transfer to release, positional velocity of 74 mph across the infield with accurate throws.

Landon McGinness 2B / 1B / Liberty North, MO / 2022

McGinness is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound, left-handed hitting infielder in Missouri’s 2022 class. He ran a 7.60 second 60 and 4.69 home-to-first. During batting practice, McGinness posted an exit velocity of 85 mph, starts in an open stance, quiet load, rhythm with his hands, quick hands, shows feel for the barrel, remains balanced throughout swing, produced hard contact to primarily right field during hitting evaluations. On the infield, shows some athletic actions, fluid footwork, momentum follows throw, clean arm action, three-quarter release, positional velo of 68 mph, mostly accurate throws across the infield.

Jackson Mervosh SS / RHP / Olathe South, KS / 2022

Mervosh is a 5-foot-9, 155-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. Mervosh shows the potential for a stronger build as he develops, wide shoulders, athletic actions and the plate and defensively. He runs a 7.22 second 60 and 4.51 home-to-first. At the plate, Mervosh posted an exit velocity of 84 mph, simple load, repeatable swing, ability to control the barrel, hard line drive and fly ball contact to the middle of the field during batting practice. Defensively on the infield, smooth actions, rushed at times, soft hands, fluid footwork with momentum towards first base, clean arm action, three-quarter release, positional velocity of 76 mph across the infield.

Zach Moore 1B / OF / Cape Girardeau Central, MO / 2020

Moore is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and corner infielder in Missouri’s 2020 class. He ran a 7.14 second 60 and 4.83 home-to-first. At the plate, posted an exit velocity of 83 mph, starts in an open stance, leg lift, in line stride, quiet hands, produced hard pull side contact during batting practice with some pop. On the infield, Moore shows good lateral movements for his size, momentum towards target, clean arm action, accurate throws across the diamond, positional velo of 70 mph.

Colin Moszczynski-Rivas RHP / 2B / Grain Valley , MO / 2021

Moszczynski-Rivas is a 5-foot-10, 150-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 8.19 second 60 and 4.63 home-to-first. During hitting evaluations, Rivas posted an exit velocity of 77 mph, starts up right, open stance, smaller leg lift to load, in line stride, some rhythm with hands, repeatable swing, produced fly ball contact to the middle of the field during round. On the infield, showed range to both backhand and glove side, clean transfers, long arm action, showed ability to throw from multiple arm slots, positional velo of 74 mph, accurate throws across the infield.

Luke Quackenbush 3B / RHP / Kickapoo, MO / 2021

Quackenbush is a solid 5-foot-11, 170-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.41 second 60 and a 4.96 home-to-first. At the plate, posted an exit velocity of 85 mph, athletic stance, loose wrists, quiet load, in line stride, aggressive with back hip, produced mostly pull side fly ball contact during batting practice. On the infield, athletic actions, fluid footwork, momentum towards target, arm works, high three-quarter release, positional velo of 84 mph, very accurate throws.

Brett Rush 3B / RHP / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2022

Rush is a 5-foot-9, 160-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder, corner infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2022 class. At the event, Rush ran a 7.68 second 60 and a 4.95 home-to-first. At the plate, posted an exit velocity of 79 mph, starts in a narrow and slightly open stance, simple load, in line stride, quick hands, level bat path, showed and middle to opposite field approach during batting practice. On the infield, good pre-pitch actions, fluid footwork, glove tap into transfer, clean arm action, positional velo of 77 mph, accurate throws.

Ryan Ulm C / 1B / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2022

Ulm is a big bodied and strong 6-foo-3, 205-pound, right-handed hitting catcher and corner infielder in Missouri’s 2022 class. At the event, Ulm ran a 5.30 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 81 mph. At the plate, smooth load with hands, closed off stride, big swing, high finish with his hands, produced hard contact and looks to lift the baseball during batting practice. At first base, Ulm shows some athleticism, moves well for his size, clean arm action, accurate throws with a positional velo topping at 76 mph.

Jackson White SS / RHP / Lees Summit West, MO / 2022

White is a 6-foot, 156-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and middle infielder in Missouri’s 2022 class. White ran a 7.28 second 60 and posted an exit velocity of 86 mph. At the plate, bigger frame, wide shoulders, reverse toe tap, minimal load, quiet hands, remains balanced throughout swing, produced middle contact during batting practice. On the infield, White shows athletic actions, fluid footwork, plus range to both forehand and glove sides, clean arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velo of 77 mph, accurate throws across the diamond.

Chase Wilcox 2B / SS / St Pius , MO / 2022

Wilcox is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound, left-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2022 class. Wilcox runs a 7.12 second 60 and a 4.69 home-to-first. During batting practice, posts and exit velocity of 88 mph, smooth and repeatable swing, barrel stays in the zone for a long time, loose hands, natural lift to bat path, produced hard contact with some pop to center and right field throughout round. Lukas Wilson SS / 2B / Staley, MO / 2024

Wilson is a 5-foot-6, 135-pound, switch-hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2024 class. Wilson ran a 7.81 second 60 and a 4.81 home-to-first. Posted an exit velocity of 74 mph. At the plate from the left side, athletic stance, smaller leg lift into load, slightly across body with stride, easy swing, produced contact with a middle approach during round. From the right side, leg lift to load, loose hands, level bat path, primarily contact to left field. On the field, smooth actions, fluid footwork, quick transfer to release, low three-quarter release, 63 mph positional velocity, mostly accurate throws.
