Mac N Seitz Black Sox Scout Day: 2019 Outfielder's Analysis

Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Mac N Seitz Black Sox Scout Day on Saturday, February 24 in Kansas City, Missouri.  Over seventy players in the 2021 to 2018 classes participated. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the outfielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

This group of outfielders included four exit velos of 87 mph or better with four outfield velos at 84 mph or better.  Here is a look at the 2019 outfielders from the Mac N Seitz Scout Day.

Outfielders

Ty Bradford OF / Gardner Edgerton, KS / 2019

Bradford is a 5-foot-8 150-pound left0handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.09 home to first and has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, controlled weight shift into back side with controlled hands, calm leg lift, in line stride, level path though the zone, gap to gap contact.  In the outfield, 73 mph positional velocity, over the top release, feet are quick to the ball, creates momentum to throw after the catch.

Connor Chase OF / SS / Olathe North, KS / 2019

Chase is an athletically built 6-foot 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.07 home to first and has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts tall and open with stance, smooth load with leg lift, accelerates to the ball, quick hands with fast bat speed, creates level bat whip, occasional pull power with gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 72 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, clean glove to hand transfer, works through the ball, throws come out of the hand with backspin, fluid actions.

Jason Dudzik OF / SS / Olathe South, KS / 2019

Dudzik is a long legged 6-foot 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.12 home to first and has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, simple and repeatable, no wasted movement in load, inline stride with quiet hands, loose hand with feel for the barrel, occasional pull side power, gap to gap approach. In the outfield, 84 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, quick catch and throw with fluid momentum through the catch, throws have backspin and carry, lean build with room to add more strength.

Ryan Freiermuth OF / 3B / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2019

Freiermuth is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.20 home to first and has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, slightly open stance, some hand hand load, stays under control, swing produces quick path though contact, solid line drives gap to gap.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velocity, over the top release, aggressive to and through the catch, clean exchange, transfer and hands in sync. 

Kendall Hargens OF / 1B / Blue Valley North, KS / 2019

Hargens is a strong, with some length, 6-foot-1 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.27 home to first and has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, minimal load with no wasted movements, controlled leg lift, stays in legs for leverage, accelerated and quick bat speed, level though the hitting zone, flashes pull side contact with mostly pull and middle of the field contact during hitting evals.  In the outfield, 83 mph positional velocity, loose over the top arm slot, aggressive and quick, athletic actions in transfer and footwork.

Michael Hennessey OF / RHP / Saint Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2019

Hennessey is a 6-foot 185-pound right-handed hitting hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.46 home to first and has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, thin set up with reverse to tap to stride, some pre-pitch rhythm in hands, body stays under control, swing produced line drives gap to gap.  In the outfield, 71 mph positional velocity, fluid footwork to the ball, gaining momentum after the catch, clean transfers, throws come out of the hand with backspin.

Easton Hungerford OF / LHP / Olathe East, KS / 2019

Hungerford is a long and lean 6-foot-1 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.34 home to first and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a balanced set up, in line weight shift with some pre-pitch rhythm in hands, short in line stride, smooth acceleration to contact, middle to pull side contact.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, maintains momentum through the catch, fluid actions, long athletic build with projection. 

Tyler McQuinn RHP / OF / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2019

McQuinn is an athleteic 5-foot-6 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.63 home to first and has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance with leg kick, minimal hand movement, loose hands with level path through extension, hit the ball out front with mostly middle to pull side line drives, repeats swing with smooth rhythm. In the outfield, 84 mph positional velocity, over the top arm slot, fluid footwork and transfer, with momentum after the catch, throws have carry with backspin.

Tyler Perry OF / C / Lees Summit , MO / 2019

Perry is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 4.70 home to first and has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slight smooth weight shift to load, calm in line stride, level path, gap to gap contact using mostly the middle of the field. In the outfield, 79 mph positional velocity, three quarters arms slot, quick catch and throw, quick to the ball with clean transfers

Jackson Rice OF / Olathe South, KS / 2019

Rice is a slender and athletic 6-foot-1 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.05 home to first and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth pre-pitch rhythm in hands, calm weight shift to back side, short in line stride, has feel for the barrel, consistent hard contact gap to gap, pull side power.  In the outfield, 83 mph positional velocity, loose and quick arm speed, over the top arm slot, throws downhill, works behind the ball and maintains momentum thought the catch, smooth actions, lean and athletic build still developing.
