Mid-Eastern Missouri Open ID: Infielders Analysis

Prep Baseball Report held the Mid-Eastern Missouri Open ID on July 26 in Washington, Missouri.  Twenty-five players from around the eastern part of Missouri participated.  Players ranged from the 2017 to 2020 classes.

Players profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velos and videos.  College recruiters can see more information through their ScoutPlus subscription. 

We will break down each position, taking a look at infielders today. Although, infielders may have participated in other positions, this is just a look at the infield performances.  Click on the players name to see their profile.

Infielders

Justin Bauersachs, 3B, Trico (IL), 2017
Bauersachs is a 6-foot-4 190-pound switch-hitting shortstop in Illinois’ 2017 class.  He ran a 7.78 60 and a 4.93 home-to-first.  He has an 86 mph positional velo. At the plate, balanced set from right side, no wasted movement in load, short stride, quick bat speed, power to middle and pull side of field, more pull approach from left side, loose hands, similar mechanics from both sides. On the infield, high three quarters release, arm works, clean and fluid with footwork and exchange, accurate throws, 82 mph positional velo.

Michael Bennett, INF, Pacific, 2017
Bennett is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed hitting infielder in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 7.77 60 and a 4.47 home-to-first.  He has an exit velo of 74 mph. At the plate, balances set up, short stride, hands create path, level path through zone, middle of the field contact during batting practice. On the infield, 72 mph positional velo, easy over the top release, fields ball in athletic position, fluid actions, mostly accurate throws. 

Caleb Carswell, 1B, Parkway West, 2017
Carswell is a 6-foot-1 225-pound right-handed hitting first-baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 8.47 60 and a 5.31 home-to-first.  He has an 88 mph exit velo. At the plate, wide stance, short stride with controlled leg kick, aggressive hands, strong lower half, swing produce consistent middle of the field line drives druing batting practice.  At first base, 73 mph positional velo, quick high three quarters release, quick to the ball with fluid footwork, mostly somewhat accurate throws. 

Jacob Fleming, SS, Union, 2018
Fleming is a 5-foot-8 165-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.35 60 and a 4.89 home-to-first.  He has an 87 mph exit velo. At the plate, slightly open stance, in line stride, controlled leg lift, level path through the hitting zone, mostly pull side contact during batting practice.  On the infield, 78 mph positional velo, high three quarters arm slot, plays through the ball, quick transfer, fluid footwork, accurate throws.   

Drew Hansel, 3B, Parkway South, 2020
Hansel is a 5-foot-9 145-pound right-handed hitting third-baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 8.22 60 and 4.89 home-to-first.  His exit velo was 68 mph. At the plate, wide stance, reverse short stride, early trigger stride, minimal hand load, loose hands working inside the ball, gap-to-gap approach. On the infield, 65 mph positional velo, high three quarters arm slot, gains ground towards 1B after catch, clean transfer, mostly accurate throws. 

Garrett Juergens, SS. Sullivan, 2019
Juergens is a 5-foot-7 137-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.70 60 and a 4.83 home-to-first.  He has a 77 mph exit velo. At the plate, than stance with smooth rhythm, in line stride, hands work inside ball, body under control, gap-to-gap approach.  On the infield, 74 mph positional velo, moves well to the ball, loose high three quarters arm action, quick catch and throw, accurate throws.

Josef Keilholz, 3B, Fatima, 2019
Keilholz is a 5-foot-8 175-pound left-handed hitting third-baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.69 60 and a 4.75 home-to-first.  He has a 78 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced set up, no wasted movement in load, flashed pop to both gaps, swing produced line drives to whole field, feel for the barrel, loose hands, solid consistent contact in batting practice.  On the infield, 69 mph positional velo, three quarters arm slot, quick transfer and throw, somewhat accurate throws.

Dawson Kirtley, SS, Centralia, 2018
Kirtley is a 5-foot-11 150-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.87 60 and 4.94 home-to-first.  He has a 78 mph exit velo. At the plate, wide stance, smooth load in back side, short stride, level path through the hitting zone, gap-to-gap approach.  On the infield, 76 mph positional velo, short high three quarters release, momentum though the catch, moves well to the ball, fields in athletic positon, accurate throws.

Lance Logsdon, 3B, Canton, 2018
Logsdon is a 6-foot-3 187-pound left-handed hitting third-baseman in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.94 60 and a 5.06 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced set up, to tap, attacks ball, quick and aggressive hands, power to the oppo gap, some hand load, gap-to-gap approach, repeats swing.  On the infield, 82 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, aggressive to the ball, momentum though the catch, quick transfer with quick feet, accurate throws.  Tall and lean with projection. 

Bryce Mayer, SS, Borgia, 2020
Mayer is a 5-foot-2 110-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 8.64 60 and a 5.27 home-to-first.  He has a 67 mph exit velo. At the plate, simple and repeatable, no wasted movement, balanced set up, short path to contact, gap-to-gap approach, body under control.  On the infield, 63 mph positional velo, short over the top release, fields ball in athletic position, ready to throw, arm works, fluid transfer and throw, mostly accurate throws.  Projectable frame able to add strength with already athletic actions. 

Joel Simmons, 2B, Rolla, 2018
Simmons is a 5-foot-9 155-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He has an 8.37 60 and a 5.15 home to first.  He has a 77 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load into back side, short stride, accelerated bat speed, gap-to-gap approach.  On the infield, three quarters release, aggressive to the ball, fluid footwork in sync with exchange, 67 mph positional velo, plays through the ball, mostly accurate throws. 

Jackson Truesdell, 1B, Westran, 2019
Truesdale is a 6-foot 180-pound right-handed hitting first-baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.69 60 and a 4.75 home-to-first.  He has a 78 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load, short stride, swing produced consistent line drives to the middle of the field, loose hands, quick bat, repeats swing.  On the infield, 67 mph positional velo, high three quarters arm slot, quick footwork, moves well to the ball, quick catch and throw, athletic frame.
