Last weekend, the PBR Tournaments staff held the Midwest Premier Super 17 tournament at the Creekside Baseball Park in Parkville, Missouri. This event featured 40 teams from across the Midwest that valiantly competed for a chance at the tournament’s crown.

For a look at all the teams, and rosters, that participated in this event, click HERE.

We started to dive deeper into the tournament itself as this week has gone on, selecting an all-tournament team, which you can find HERE, and we followed it up by highlighting the top 15 prospects in attendance, found HERE

Today we’re going to spend some time highlighting several uncommitted prospects that showed well at one of the Midwest’s top 17U tournaments. Below you’ll find multiple names still on the market who caught our scouts’ attention at the Midwest Premier Super 17.

TOP UNCOMMITTED

Cole Bensen RHP / Bay Port, WI / 2023

Athletic, well-proportioned 6-foot, 195-pound frame with room to add strength. Turned in a quality performance on the mound for ISA Royal in a playoff victory: 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R. Threw his fastball for strikes and generated weak contact, topping at 86 mph while pitching in the mid-80s. Continued to show advanced feel to spin a breaking ball around the zone and out of it, something we’ve seen from him in the past. Consistent performer that seemingly always finds ways to win; was a top arm on a Bay Port Pirates team that made it to the Wisconsin state playoffs.

Cade Duffin 1B / Oswego , IL / 2023

6-foot-3, 240-pound frame that’s leaned out and added more muscle since our latest in-game look. Ultra-physical athlete that wields one of the loudest right-handed bats in Illinois. Bashed a ball off the center field fence in his first at-bat of the entire tournament and flashed true impact power at times as the weekend went on. Recorded a 108 mph max exit velocity at the Rhino Scout Day last September in BP off a TrackMan.

Quinn Falish OF / De Pere, WI / 2023

Athletic, physically built 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame. Took the mound for GRB Rays - Green in the tournament’s opening slot and twirled a quality outing. Has cleaned up his operation and steadily sustained an uptick in velocity over the last six months. Fastball plays in the 85-88 mph range, peaking at 89 mph with feel for the zone. Spins a tight, firm mid-to-upper-70s slider and will sink a low-80s changeup, too. Also has intrigue as a position player; 6.82 60-yard dash, 97.5 mph max exit velocity, and topped at 93 mph from the outfield this winter. Former PBR Future Games prospect that’s a trending uncommitted follow in Wisconsin’s 2023 class.

Easton Frazier RHP / Fayetteville, AR / 2023

Long, lean 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame with plenty of room for physical projection. Toed the rubber on the tournament’s first day for US Nationals MidSouth and showed upside stuff. Pumped his fastball at 84-88 mph from somewhat of a crossfire delivery. Spun a low-70s curveball and also featured a firm upper-80s changeup. Former PBR Future Games participant that’s one of the top uncommitted arms in Arkansas.

Christian Graves 3B / Jacobs, IL / 2023

Oozes physicality and sheer strength attached to a 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame. Brings an imposing presence into the right-handed batter’s box. Thumped multiple balls to the deepest part of the Creekside fields throughout the weekend, working from a shorter and more compact stroke than we’ve seen in the past. Has also breached the 100+ mph max exit velocity mark multiple times at Illinois’ events. Projects as a true middle-of-the-order masher at the next level.

Jack Grewe OF / Skutt Catholic, NE / 2023

Athletic, well-proportioned 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame. Looked the part at the plate throughout the weekend, elevating the ball from a short, uphill right-handed stroke. Toolsy prospect; 95.6 mph max EV, 373 foot peak distance, peaked at 94 mph from the outfield. One of the top uncommitted outfielders in Nebraska’s incoming senior group.

Kaden Griffitts OF / Williamsville , IL / 2023

5-foot-11, 180-pound left/left prospect that really looks the part in a uniform. Has been trending up after a strong start to the summer circuit. Athletic at the plate with bat speed and twitch, working on the barrel and creating leverage from a level path. Above-average speed that shows on the basepaths and in center field; 6.78 60. Former PBR Future Games participant and a high-follow uncommitted outfielder in the Illinois’ 2023 class.

Ricky Howell RHP / Pendleton Heights, IN / 2023

Athletic 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with strength throughout. Showed some of the tournament's loudest stuff on the mound. Reacheda 92 mph high with his fastball, ultimately settling into the upper-80s, and paired it with a tight upper-70s slider, too. Howell is a high upside arm with a loud two-pitch mix that’s a top uncommitted prospect on the mound in the Indiana 2023 class.

Josh Katz RHP / Lane Tech, IL / 2023

Strong 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Took the mound for Top Tier Americans on Friday and showed his usual loud, low-effort stuff. Fastball peaked at 90 mph, sitting at 87-89 mph with late run and sink at times. Started to pitch backwards more the second time through the order with a low-70s curveball that he comfortably landed for strikes at a 2,600+ RPM average.

Brady Kern OF / Lawrence Free State , KS / 2023

Lean 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame that projects. Has been an arrow-up uncommitted prospect after performing in front of our staff multiple times this summer at the plate. Impacts the ball from a short, uphill path to contact with line drive feel to all fields in game looks. Recently ran a 6.72 60-yard dash at the MOKAN Top Prospect Games.

Simon Linde RHP / Liberty , MO / 2023

6-foot-1, 190-pound physically built athlete with broad shoulders and strength in the lower half. Took the mound for Mac N Seitz on Friday and showed a power two-pitch mix. Worked the zone with an upper-80s fastball that featured natural arm-side run down in the zone. Turned to a hard, sharp 76-78 mph slider with late break that paired well with his fastball. Twirled a three-hit, complete game win.

AJ Malzone C / St. Rita, IL / 2023

Athletic 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame with strength in the lower half. A top left-handed hitting backstop in Illinois that performed throughout the weekend for Top Tier Americans. Maintains a short, direct path to contact with gap-to-gap feel and occasional juice off the barrel. Owns high bat-to-ball skills and athletic hands to pair. Improved receiver behind the plate with arm strength. Advanced runner for the position, too.

Ryan Niedzwiedz SS / West Aurora, IL / 2023

6-foot, 190-pounds; currently sits as one of the top uncommitted left-handed bats in the Illinois 2023 class. Physical at the plate with advanced bat speed and consistently works on the barrel with little swing-and-miss. Launched a no-doubt home run on Field 4 that comfortably cleared the right field fence by 30 or so feet. Took a highly impressive BP round at the Illinois Preseason All-State this winter, 101.8 mph max EV, 94.4 mph average EV, and also ran a 7.02 60 with 90 mph arm strength across the infield. Profiles as a middle-of-the-order type bat at the next level with thump from the left side.

Chayce Osterhaus RHP / Markesan, WI / 2023

Lean, wiry 6-foot, 160-pound with lanky limbs that project to add strength as he gets older. Took the mound for GRB Rays - Green and showed plenty of intrigue on the hill. Fastball sat 85-87, topping at 88 mph from a loose, easy operation that suggests more velocity is on the way. Feel to land a tight, firm upper-70s slider around the zone, could also profile as a swing-and-miss pitch if thrown at the glove-side corner of the plate. Former PBR Future Games participant and also earned PBR Wisconsin First Team All-State honors.

Mac Resetich OF / Hall, IL / 2023

Built like a linebacker; 6-foot, 205-pound muscular frame. Short handsy swing from the right side that flashed juice off the barrel throughout the weekend. Advanced runner down the line and in the outfield; ran a 6.67 60 at an Illinois’ event two years ago. Multi-sport athlete that’s still uncommitted.

Andrew Ressler RHP / Huntley, IL / 2023

6-foot-1, 185-pound well-proportioned frame capable of adding more mass. Quick worker on the mound, maintains tempo and rhythm. Fastball topped at 88 mph, sitting at 85-87 mph for strikes from a lower average release height. Confidence to spin a sharp mid-70s slider with late break in all counts and around the zone. Former PBR Future Games participant that is one of the top uncommitted arms in the Illinois’ 2023 class.

Gianni Royer OF / Lake Forest, IL / 2023

5-foot-11, 168-pound frame with wiry strength and athleticism attached. Hit towards the top of a talented Hitters 2023 lineup and performed throughout the weekend. Repeats a short, compact right-handed swing with ease and showed more juice to the pull-side than we’d seen in the past; drove a few balls deep to left field and homered that way as well. Quality defender in the outfield with advanced arm strength to pair. Was a winner at the Illinois’ Preseason All-State this winter; ran a 6.56 60, peaked at 96.3 mph in BP, and reached a 90 mph max from the outfield. An arrow-up uncommitted name in the Illinois’ incoming senior class.

John-Paul Sauer RHP / Jackson , MO / 2024

Sturdy 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame. A top-15 prospect in Missouri’s 2024 class that played up an age level throughout the weekend with GBA. Showed feel for a quality four-pitch mix that included a mid-to-upper-80s fastball, topping at 89 mph. Has displayed advanced pitchability in front of our staff for some time now. Will represent Team Missouri at the PBR Future Games this summer.

Troy Stukenberg SS / Lyons Township, IL / 2023

5-foot-10, 180-pound strong, muscular frame. Was a key contributor to the Cangelosi Sparks North team that captured the tournament championship. Worked on the barrel throughout the weekend with athletic hands. Also showed as one of the biggest winners from this winter’s O’Hare Preseason ID, where he ran a 6.63 60, averaged 94.2 mph off the barrel in BP, and topped at 86 mph across the infield.

Roman Trapani RHP / Eau Claire Memorial, WI / 2023

5-foot-11, 210-pound frame; thick lower half. Put together an impressive outing in relief for GRB Rays - Green in a victory over a talented lineup. Clear tempo and rhythm on the mound, repeated. Held 86-88 mph throughout his outing, worked on the corners. Comfortably pitched backwards, primarily turning to a 75-76 mph curveball that got chases out of the zone and also landed for strikes. Has family pedigree on the diamond; older brother was a high-end prospect in Wisconsin’s 2021 class.

Luke Vitt RHP / Edina , MN / 2023

Physical 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame with room to add more strength in the future. Turned in a dominant start against a quality opponent for MASH: 7 IP, 3 H, R, 9 K. Pitched in the mid-80s with his fastball, touching 88 mph with life and attacking hitters. Also featured a tightly spun slider that he landed for strikes. Currently ranked as a top-30 prospect in the Minnesota 2023 class.

Zan von Schlegell MIF / Saint Viator, IL / 2023

Turned in a three hit performance for Rake City that included a loud opposite field triple.

Tony Woodie 1B / Bentonville , AR / 2023

Physical 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame that stands out on the diamond. Showed capable of driving balls with power to all fields throughout the weekend, racking up multiple hits that jumped off his barrel with authority. Profiles defensively in a corner outfield role or at first base in the long term. Earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for his performance and is an arrow-up uncommitted power bat to follow in Arkansas.

Jackson Yarberry RHP / Timberland, MO / 2023

Thick, sturdy 6-foot-2, 220-pound frame with physicality. Quick worker that attacked the zone with an upper-80s heavy sinking fastball that generated ground balls throughout his outing. Landed a short wrinkle 73-75 mph breaking ball with some depth for strikes off an 11/5 plane. Uncommitted strike-thrower that’s ranked inside the state’s top-55 prospects for the Missouri 2023 class.

Ty Zahradnik LHP / Keller, TX / 2023

6-foot-7, 220-pound southpaw. Bumped his fastball up into the 86-87 mph range from a long draw arm slot in his first inning of work, settling in at 83-84 mph with more in the tank.
