Earlier this week, our staff updated the state's 2024 rankings after the summer circuit came to a conclusion. With all the information we've collected on players over the year, we expanded the board to 225 players, and shuffled some names at the top.

We'll continue to pump out content from this release as the week goes on, starting today by looking at a handful of position players spread throughout the rankings that are still uncommitted. We'll do the same with the pitchers shortly, so be on the lookout for that.

NAMES TO KNOW

Lukas Wilson SS / Staley, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 17 / POS: 4 From 7/28/22: "...impressed in multiple facets of yesterday’s workout. A switch-hitter, Wilson repeated his swing from both sides of the plate and produced steady line drive contact throughout, working the whole field. His clean actions on the infield have him pegged to stay there in the long run, covering ground with confidence with soft hands to pair."

Jackson Glueck 1B / Staley , MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 18 / POS: 1 From 7/28/22: "...owns advanced feel to hit from the left side and noteworthy bat strength, showcasing that on Wednesday in BP. At 6-foot, 212-pounds, Glueck ripped off a few swings that turned heads, maxing at 95 mph on his hardest batted ball with a 353 foot max. A top performer at Creekside at the Kansas City Program Invitational, Glueck’s one of Missouri’s top offensive threats."

Ashton Williams RHP / Kennett, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 20 / POS: 4 OverallRank: 469 / POS: 142 From 7/28/22: "...certainly doesn’t lack physicality in stature or at the plate, either. Williams produced the hardest batted ball of any Team Missouri prospect, squaring one up at 100.9 mph, per TrackMan, with a peak distance of 357 feet. Williams’ ability to produce hard contact (88.1 mph average) is obviously noteworthy and his right-handed power should be on display throughout the weekend. He finished one tick short of the team high in outfield velocity, peaking at 87 mph."

Bret Yarger OF / Rolla , MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 19 / POS: 3 Strong, toolsy 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete that popped at Creekside this summer and earned an invite to the Future Games with Team Select as a result. Ran a 6.75 60-yard dash with a 1.65 10-yard split and 3.76 30-yard split. Generated easy juice off the bat at the plate, particularly in BP, where he averaged 91.7 mph off the barrel with a 99.8 mph peak. Loose, easy hands, effortlessly stays through the zone. Performed in-game at times, including nearly leaving the yard to the opposite field. A high-follow uncommitted athlete in Missouri.

Jackson Carter OF / Fort Zumwalt East, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 27 / POS: 5 From 7/28/22: "...continues to show out as one of the top pure athletes in the Midwest. Carter started his day off by jumping 34.4 inches in the vertical test, an incredibly impressive mark, and he proceeded to run a 6.51 in the 60-yard dash afterwards. He showcased a short, quick right-handed stroke at the plate, averaging 24.6 mph of hand speed and 73.6 mph of bat speed - both of which are advanced Blast Motion metrics."

Mason Beno SS / Parkway West, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 29 / POS: 5 From 7/29/22: "...captured our ‘Player of the Game’ honors after an impressive performance on both sides of the ball. Beno toed the rubber in the third frame, punching out a pair over a scoreless frame. Beno generated mid-to-upper-80s velocity from a loose, quick arm, pumping his heater up to 88 mph and sitting at 85-87 mph. He spun a 73-74 mph slider to pair off that fastball, ripping it at 2,300+ RPM with sweep from a similar arm slot to his heater. Beno sprayed two singles at the plate from a short, simple left-handed stroke that he controlled the zone with."

Jack Nobe OF / St Francis Borgia, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 31 / POS: 7 Upside, projectable 6-foot-2, 165-pound two-way follow in the class. Emerged a winner this off-season and parlayed that success to Creekside, finding his way onto Team Select afterwards. 6.81 runner in the 60, elevates the ball from the left side with length through the zone that should translate to more impact as he continues to physically fill out. Ran his fastball up to 88.7 mph at the Future Games, pitching at 84-87 mph with a 2,385 RPM average. Also spun a 74-75 mph curveball at 2,466 RPM, averaging 2,355 RPM per pitch. One of the state's top two-way uncommitted prospects.

Chase Lasater C / Wentzville Holt, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 33 / POS: 5 From 7/28/22: "...took one of Missouri’s cleanest BP rounds, repeating line drive contact throughout and covering the plate. Lasaster’s knack for the barrel is extremely advanced, as the 5-foot-11, 190-pound backstop found the sweet-spot at an 88% mark, per TrackMan. Lasater looked improved behind the plate, showing on-the-bag accuracy from a short, quick slot."

Logan Cowick 3B / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 37 / POS: 2 Athletic, sturdy 6-foot, 180-pound athlete with gap-to-gap bat strength from the right side. Repeats hard, quality contact off the barrel, middle-of-the-order upside.

Brodie Short UTILITY / Lutheran St. Charles, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 40 / POS: 1 From 7/29/22: "...screamed a pair of balls off his left-handed barrel that certainly turned heads. Built at a physical 6-foot-1, 202-pounds, Short brought home a pair of runs on his own and he displayed above-average opposite field power, gapping a hard double to left field."

Kody Brown C / Seckman, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 43 / POS: 6 From 8/11/22: "...packs a punch inside a 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame. Brown’s ability to generate bat speed from the left side stands out, averaging 74.6 mph with a 78.2 mph peak. He also launched a ball 356 feet in BP, which was one of the event’s highest marks, and led all athletes in the vertical test, jumping 32.3 inches."

Bryson Kline C/RHP / Troy , MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 46 / POS: 7 6-foot, 190-pound athlete with inherent strength. Repeated line drive contact to the pull-side from a long, right-handed stroke at an event this past winter. Quick to release from behind the plate; popped at 1.94-to-2.00 flat with an 81 mph high from the crouch. That strength translated to the mound, where Kline pitched at 84-86 mph with his fastball, spinning a 72-74 mph curveball as well.

Jackson Helberg C / Kearney, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 50 / POS: 8 Athletic 5-foot-11, 195-pound backstop with loose hands and a level right-handed stroke. Reached a peak exit velocity of 93.8 mph, averaging 86.6 mph off the barrel at the MOKAN Preseason All-State this year. Also ran a 3.94 home-to-first.

Nathan Negre SS / Aurora, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 52 / POS: 8 5-foot-10, 165-pound uncommitted infielder that popped at Creekside this past summer, earning his way onto our rankings after an impressive stretch. Hammered one of the furthest home runs we saw all summer at the MIdwest Premier Super 17 while playing up an age level. Advanced bat speed and athletic rotation for age; an uncommitted follow bat in the state.

Michael Politte SS / Lindbergh, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 58 / POS: 10 From 6/27/22: "...looked every bit the part of a follow prospect in Missouri’s 2024 group at this event. At 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, Politte generated easy loft from the right side and flashed pull-side power at times that should grow into more consistent juice as he continues to physically mature. Politte moved well on the infield and fired one of the day’s hardest bullets, topping at 85 mph across the diamond during his workout."

Nolan Whiteside OF / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 59 / POS: 11 6-foot, 160-pound left/left athlete. Has an ease of simplicity throughout his game. Doesn't try to do too much at the plate, flat to contact and stays up the middle. Athletic mover in the outfield as well.

Logan Winkleman C / CBC, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 60 / POS: 10 From 6/27/22: "...Winkleman, who popped at the GBA Scout Day late last month, continued to show physicality at the plate from the right side. He repeatedly barreled baseballs up to the loudest parts of the park with a short, direct path to contact and above-average hand strength to pair. Winklema looked the part defensively as well, topping at 79 mph from the crouch while averaging 1.83-to-2.03 pops with accuracy to the bag."

Charlie Isom-McCall SS / St. Louis University, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 77 / POS: 14 Athletic 6-foot, 160-pound up-the-middle athlete that climbs a few spots in this rankings update after impressing at two of our events this summer, as well as at PBR Tournaments. 6.72 runner, stays short to contact at the plate with a spray-type approach. Travels low on the infield with soft hands, rhythmic feet, and range on the move.

John Spivey OF / St. Louis Priory, MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 90 / POS: 15 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete with proportional strength throughout. Was one of the biggest winners at the Top Prospect Underclass Games in June. Repeated quality gap-to-gap contact in BP and translated it to the game, racking up a few loud barrels that included a triple. Profiles best in a corner outfield role moving forward, owns 85 mph arm strength there.

Will Kunitz SS / Ladue Horton Watkins , MO / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 91 / POS: 19 Compact athlete that impressed at LakePoint this summer and also at the St. Louis Top Prospect Games. Quick hands from the left side, keeps the barrel in the zone and stays level to contact. Top-of-the-order type bat that will put together competitive at-bats and can use the whole field. Active on the infield, second base profile.
