Opening Day Daily Round Up- March 15



The Missouri High School season is finally upon us, with s slew of games played today. As we have in years past, we will bring you daily scores and hghlights of games around the state.

In the Troy Tournament action:
No. 1 ranked Francis Howell (No. 1 seed) beat up on Windsor 12-0 in five innings. Zac Perkins went 3-for-3 with an RBI while Jake Hellweg and Elijah Dilday provided a bulk of the offense. Hellewg went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIS and Dilday hit his first home run of the season while also driving in three runs. Dylan Salsman threw five innings of no hit ball to pick up the win. 

No. 2 ranked CBC (No. 2 seed) defeated Duchene by a score of 8 to 1. 

Ft. Zumwalt South (No. 4 seed) shut out host Troy Buchanon, 5-0. Ryan Sosnowski led the Zumwalt South offense going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Taylor Testo threw five innings of one hit ball to pick up the win. 

Timberland (No. 5 seed) got by Hillsboro 6 to 4.

Ft. Zumwalt East upset DeSmet (No. 6 seed) by a score of 4 to 2

Ft. Zumwalt West (No. 7 seed) beat up on Ft. Zumwalt North 8-0. Ryan Franklin picked up the win with a complete game three hitter, striking out nine. Austin Verschoore went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs and Jordan White drove in two runs on two hits.

Seckman (No. 8 seed) defeated Wentzville Holt, 8-1. Collin Edwards led the Seckman offense going 2-for-4 with a single, homerun, three RBIs and three runs scored. Colby Holloway picked up the win on the mound going five innings while striking out seven and allowing one earned run.

In other action around the state:
No. 9 Clayton defeated John F. Kennedy HS 6 to 2.

No. 17 Valle Catholic shut out Crystal City 13-0.

No. 19 Clever beat up on Diamond HS 16 to 1. Chance Wolfe struck out 11 batters while also helping himself out with a grand slam. Ranger Curtis added a solo homerun for Clever.

No. 23 Logan-Rogersville defeated Hillcrest 9 to 3. Justin King went five strong innings allowing one earned run to pick up the win. Bailey Jenkins led the offense going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Monett, behind Aaron Patton’s one hitter with 12 strikeouts, defeated Bolivar 8 to 1.

Parkview slammed Marshfield 16 to 2, pounding out 16 hits. Landon Ruff led the way with three hits, including his first homerun of the year. Wayne Manier, Wyatt Gann, Jordan Hicks, and Tanner James each contributed with two hits apiece, while Austin Kendrick contributed with his first home run of the season.

Willard picked up a walk off win against Bentonville (AR) 7 to 6. Austin Reaves picked up the win for Willard, while Michael Pfeifer smacked a grand slam. Nik Taylor drove home the winning run with a walk off double.

Neosho beat Pawhuska (OK) 26-0 at the Sperry Tournament. Trey Turner went 5-for-5 with 5 RBIs and Brendan Craig went 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs, while Tyler Johnson chipped in going 2-for-2 and driving in a run.

In their second game Neosho beat Sperry (OK) 15-3. Kyler Finley and Tyler Johnson each went 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs to lead the offense. Trey Turner went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, while Brendan Craig was 2-for-4 with a triple, single and 3 RBIs.

Cape Central picked up two wins to open their season, defeating West County 7-0 and Jefferson 3-2.

Raytown defeated Raytown South 13 to 8 to open their season.

Valley Park slugged their way to a 21-2 win over Metro.
