Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director

RHP/OF Michael Marra (Lee's Summit North, 2015)  was one of the overall best athletes in the Class of 2015 Prospect Games on August 17.   He has an athletic 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame and has an over-the-top delivery and quick arm speed. Michael throws with regular effort and stays level with his shoulders. His fastball works in the 83-85 MPH range, and he has a 12-to-6 curveball with sharp late break at 73-74 MPH.  He throws a slider at 77-78 MPH and displayed a change-up that ranged from 78-80 with near fastball arm speed with sink. He picked up 1 strikeout during his outing.

In the outfield, He posted a home-to-first time of 4.16, one of the events top times. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot with loose arm action and makes mostly accurate throws. He has a clean exchange and has aggressive actions to and through the ball. His position velo was 89 MPH. At the plate, Marra has an athletic setup and a smooth load. He gets good extension on his swing and is a little uphill. Michael’s swing produces gap-to-gap line drives and tends to go opposite field. He had an exit velo of 84 MPH. During game action, he picked up a hit to the opposite field.

Marra led Lee's Summit North to a 15-16 record last spring.  The Broncos suffered a season ending loss to #3 Blue Springs South in the district championship.  He tallied 32 strikeouts in 28 innings of work and posted a 1.9 ERA as a junior.  At the plate, he batted .339.

Marra is looking forward to his senior year at Lee's Summit North and enjoying the recruiting process this fall. Here is a look at what Marra has going on.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Marra: The University Central Missouri, Lindenwood University, and Rockhurst University have all expressed interest

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Marra: I have a visit to Lindenwood scheduled September 10th and plan on doing other visits in the near future.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Marra: I would like a good baseball program with a history of winning and a great coaching. I would also like to stay just a couple hours away from home.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Marra: My junior season was great. I helped contribute to the team with my bat and my arm. We made a strong push at the end of the season but fell short in districts. I had 10 outings with 28 innings pitched and posted a 1.9 era with 32 Ks. I also had a .339 batting average

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season? Who are the players that will have a big impact at Lee's Summit North in 2015?

Marra: My goals are to win a state championship along with receiving some personal honors. I  would like to gain velocity on my fastball and perfect all of my pitches. I also would like to get stronger and put a crooked number in the HR colum.

Zach Ours and Nate Webb both have live arms from the mound and are both complemented with Nick Gavin behind the dish. Swinging the bat we have Chase Swisher, Collin Rice and Cole Persell.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Marra: I play for Building Champions Baseball academy in the summer and in the fall.
