St. Louis Preseason Prospect Showcase Results

The last Prep Baseball Report Showcase before the high school season begins in Missouri drew eighty players from all over the state, and Illinois, and did not disappoint evaluators, coaches, and scouts in attendance.

Some of the highlights from yesterday include:
-Impressive pitching performances from a trio of 2013 players: Brian Howard (SLUH and No. 2 ranked player in Class of 2013) topping out at 86 mph with more in the tank, Nate Green (Francis Howell HS and No. 17 player in the Class of 2013) topping out at 86 mph, and Tyler Anderson (Sikeston HS and No. 29 player in the Class of 2013 topping out an easy 85mph. Expect to see their velocities increase as we get into late March and early April when the weather warms up and they are in mid-season form.

-Class of 2014 Elijah Dilday impressed in all factes of his game. The sophomore from Christian O'Fallon dazzled scouts with his 82-84 mph fastball (with more in the tank) and 82 across the infield. Dilday also showed explosive bat speed through the zone, consistently punishing the ball.

-Sub 2.0 pop times from Wentzville Holt's Wyatt Fones (1.92-1.93, Class of 2013) SLUH's Charlie Kretchmer (1.97, 1.99, Class of 2013). Webster Groves' Jake Perry popped 2.00 with throws right on the bag, and Class of 2015 Jake Brown from Clayton burst onto the scene with a top pop time of 2.03.

-In the infield, Danny Mannion from Marquette showed the top arm across the diamond (83 mph). Keith Greishaber and Tyler Anderson were both 82 mph.

-Top outfield arms include Austin Verschoore from Ft. Zumwalt West (85 mph), Jordan Smith from Westminster (81 mph),  Landon Thomas from Mt. Vernon Township (81 mph), Pete Spradlin from Vianney (81 mph) and Brent Ricketts from St. Charles West (80 mph).
