INF Drew Dickerson (Lees Summit West, 2024) has one of the highest ceilings in the state's current junior group. He's slotted towards the top of our state's junior class rankings and inside the top-70 nationally as well, displaying tons of upside attached to a 6-foot-4, 203-pound frame.

Dickerson recently stood out at the MOKAN Open, where he ran a 6.71 60, reached a peak exit velocity of 104.8 mph, and was 88 mph across the infield. Those tools paired with present polish for the game and future projection have the Missouri commit trending upward as the off-season is underway.

We recently spoke with Dickerson about a few topics, highlighting his recruiting process, why he chose Missouri, his favorite baseball memories, and more. You'll find all of that below.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Dickerson: I really didn't have any expectations. I've always just played the game because I love it and trusted that God had the rest covered. I looked for a coaching staff that can trust me and push me not only as a baseball player but a human. And that's exactly what I got at Missouri!

P: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

D: Not really. I chose Missouri because I felt like it was the best fit for me to develop as a player.There are so many things about the coaches, culture and campus that appealed to me. The fact that my family and friends could attend more games was a bonus.

P: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

D: 8th grade.I was an early commit so for me the process has been fairly low key. The first time was at a camp in Columbia.

P: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

D: The coaching staff, they've made me feel comfortable from day one.

P: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

D: There were a handful of schools that I thought about but never explored as Missouri checked the boxes.

P: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

D: RHP Christian Bobzin (St. Paul Lutheran, 2024; Missouri commit). He's different. He leaves his all out there and pumps the zone! His command and know how on the pitchers mound separates him from others.

P: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

D: My freshman year. I was able to compete at the varsity level with older guys that were going to play college baseball.

P: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

D: To not worry about what other kids are doing and to understand it's your journey and your story so do what's best for you as an athlete and a human. And to always have fun in what you do never make it a job. Also to trust in God and know he has a plan for everyone and he’ll put you in the right places.

P: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

D: Spending countless hours with dudes that love to do the same things I do. The long life friendships and memories l've made will stick with me forever.

P: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

D: Very excited for this spring! We have great upperclassman leaders to help our highly talented underclassman group. And the best coaching staff around to guide us through every battle.
