Luis Matos, C/RHP, Sikeston HS, Class of 2013:
Matos is an athletic 5-foot-11, 168-pound two way player who showed some promise behind the plate and on the mound.

Behind the plate, Matos showed the ability to stick the ball in all parts of the strike zone with a firm wrist and soft hands. He has fundamental footwork when throwing to second, recording pop times of 2.10-2.15 at 76-mph.

At the plate, Matos has an open stance with a long, uphill swing; showing the ability to spray the ball to all fields. With a few mechanical tweaks, Matos has the ability to be a more consistent hitter.

On the mound, Matos’ fastball sat in the 75-77 mph range. He also threw an early breaking 11-to-5 breaking ball (65-66 mph) and a 69-72 mph straight change up with near fastball arm speed.
