On Sunday, October 11, Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the Southeast Missouri Open ID.  Over thirty players participated in the 2019 2016 class.

Players profiles have been updated with times, velocities and videos.  In the days to come we will break down all the positions, starting with catchers.  Catchers are listed in alphabetical order.

Catchers

Caleb Allmon, C, Fort Zumwalt South, 2018
Allmon is a 5-foot-10 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher in the 2018 class.  Allmon runs a 7.88 60 and has an exit velo of 75 mph.  At the plate, Allmon starts in a balanced stance and toe taps to short stride, home-to-first time was 4.78. He is a middle-to-pull approach with a level bat path, staying on top of the ball.  Balanced throughout swing.  Behind the plate, Allmon had pop times in the 2.22 to 2.38 range, with somewhat accurate throws.  He has a three-quarters arm slot and momentum to target.   Fluid footwork and clean exchange, with a 68 mph velo. 

Kyle Fitzgerald, C, Thomas W. Kelly, 2017
Fitzgerald is a 6-foot 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher in the 2017 class.  He ran a 7.93 and posted an 82 mph exit velo.  Starts in an athletic position at the plate, smooth rhythm with lower half load, strong hand, power to pull side, middle-to-pull approach.  Behind the plate, has pop times between 2.02 and 2.28, somewhat accurate throws, ove-the-top release, fluid footwork, quick exchange, 72 mph velo from crouch.  Fitzgerald has a 4.50-second home-to-first.

Anthony LaViola, C, Barat Academy, 2016
LaViola is a 5-foot-7 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in the 2016 class.  LaViola ran a 8.53 60 and gets down the line in 4.59-seconds.  At the plate, athletic set up, smooth rhythm, short stride, loose hands, produced line drives to middle/pull side during batting practice.  73 mph exit velo.  Behind the plate, had pop times between 2.19 and 2.61, somewhat accurate throws, over-the-top release, quick exchange, fluid footwork, momentum towards target, 68 mph positional velo.

Jack LeGrand, C, Twin Rivers, 2017
LeGrand is a physical 6-foot-2 200-pound right-handed hitting catcher in the 2017 class.  LeGrand ran a 7.72 60 and has a home-to-first time of 4.49-seconds. LeGrand starts in balanced position, bat on shoulders, smooth load, level swing path to extension, pull gap power.  Defensively, pop times between 2.06 and 2.25, mostly accurate throws, high three-quarters release, fluid exchange, 72 mph positional velo. 

Connor Martin, C, Rockwood Summit, 2018
Martin is a 5-foot-7 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in the 2018 class.  Martin ran a 7.57 60 and got down the line in 4.39-seconds.  He posted a 74 mph exit velo. Martin loads hands and uses a small leg kick for timing at the plate, level bat path, consistent line drives to the middle of field during batting pactice.  Behind the plate, has pop times between 2.12 and 2.19, mostly accurate throws, over-the-top release, clean exchange, fluid footwork, 68 mph positional velo.

Jacob Schamel, C, Northwest (Cedar), 2016
Schamel is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher in the 2016 class.  Schamel ran a 7.44 60 and ran a 4.57 home-to-first. At the plate, Schamel has no wasted movement in his load, starts slightly open, smooth rhythm in lower half, middle-to-oppo approach, consistent line drives during batting practice.  76 mph exit velo.  Defensively, has pop times between 2.00 and 2.16, accurate throws, quick exchange and release, aggressive towards target, fluid footwork, 74 mph positional velo. 

Connor Sobotka, C, Francis Howell North, 2018
Sobotka is a 5-foot-8 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in the 2018 class.  He ran a 7.78 60 and a 4.38 home-to-first.  Offensively, simple load in lower half, consistent solid contact to middle of the field, level path to extension, gap-to-gap approach, balanced swing, 74 mph exit velo.  Defensively, pop times between 2.00 and 2.09, accurate throws, over-the-top release, quick actions in feet and hands, clean exchange, 74 mph positional velo.
