St. Louis Gamers Scout Day: Outfield Analysis

Diego Solares and Andy Urban
PBR Missouri Staff

On Monday, Feb. 17, PBR Missouri held the St. Louis Gamers Scout Day at the All-Star Performance facility in St. Louis. Roughly 60 prospects were in attendance, representing every high school level and we also saw a handful of 2024 graduates showcase their skills in front of our staff.

Soon after the event’s conclusion we released an instant analysis, highlighting some of the top statistical performances of the day. We kicked off our position-by-position breakdown yesterday by highlighting the catchers and today we’ll continue our analysis, diving into the outfielders of this group.

Arguably the top overall performer of this event, regardless of position, was Southern University commit Markell Dixon (2021; McCleur North). He’s a wiry athlete with premium arm strength both in the field and on the mound, while also showing some serious pop at the plate. Dixon is a true two-way talent at the next level and is one of the top overall players in Missouri’s junior class.

Cameron Loyd (2021; Hallsville) and Sam Juenger (2021; St. Louis Priory) are two 2021 outfielders that impressed our staff with their respective performances. Both remain uncommitted and are ranked prospects in Missouri’s junior class. Loyd has a smooth, line-drive oriented swing at the plate while Juenger has big-time raw power and the ball screams off his bat when he finds the barrel. Both are intriguing follows as we prepare for the summer season.

One of the biggest takeaways from this event was the emergence of Dane Bjorn (2023; Lindburgh) as a name-to-know in Missouri’s 2023 class. Bjorn took an impressive round of batting practice, showing off an easy ability to find the barrel, and also played with advanced defensive actions in the outfield for his age. He looks the part of a true two-way talent, as he put together a rather impressive bullpen towards the end of the event. Bjorn is a high-follow prospect on both sides of the ball in Missouri’s 2023 class.

Read up on the rest of these outfield prospects below.
