Prep Baseball Report Missouri held the St. Louis Winter Open on February 9 at the Sports Barn in Wentzville, Missouri. Over ninety players participated in the 2022 to 2018 classes.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Players can now updated their profiles with a

Catchers

Lucas Ash C / California , MO / 2021

Ash is a 5-foot-9, 185 pound right-handed hitting catcher.  At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load and fluid rhythm, short leg kick, short and level bat path, fast bat speed, low finish, 84 mph exit velocity.  Behind the plate, soft hands, clean exchange, 2.20-2.34 pop time, throws at 69 mph.  8.17 in the 60.

Chayton Beck C / SS / Liberty , MO / 2020

Beck is a 6-foot-1, 170 pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  Beck impressed at the showcase with the bat and behind the plate.  At the plate, balanced setup, smooth load with a slight wrap, fast bat speed, level bat path, pull-side approach, powerful contact, 89 mph exit velocity, 7.69 60 time.  Behind the plate, smooth, soft hands, quick and clean exchange, over the top arm slot, 1.95-2.04 pop time, throws up to 75 mph. 

Samuel Bieser C / OF / Lindbergh, MO / 2020

Bieser is a 6-foot 199-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran a 7.38 60 and had an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a tall stance, some pre-pitch hand rhythm, controlled short and in line stride, level path, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, 1.99 to 2.19-second pop times, 76 mph positional velocity, slight staggered and thin set up, over the top arm slot, short arm circle, quick catch and throw after feet create momentum to throw, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Logan Bozich C / RHP / Pattonville, MO / 2020

Bozich is a 6-foot-4 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran a 7.56 60 and had an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, rotation in shoulders during load, short in line stride, slight lift to path at end of swing, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, over the top arm slot, clean exchange on time with quick footwork, momentum works through the plate, mostly accurate throws, 74 mph positional velocity, 2.19 to 2.31-second pop times.

Lincoln Burt C / 3B / Smith-Cotton, MO / 2020

Burt is a 5-foot-9, 185-pound, left-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. He ran a 7.94 60 and posted an exit velocity of 88 mph. During batting practice, impressive at the plate, balanced set up, smooth load, short stride, level bat path, gap to gap approach, stays inside the ball, Behind the plate, balanced set up, quick feet, clean transfer to throw, over the top release, positional velo of 67 mph, accurate throws, pop times between 2.13-2.29 seconds.

Connor Hines C / OF / Westminster Christian Academy , MO / 2021

Hines is a 5-foot-9 162-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.30 60 and had a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, athletic set up, fluid rhythm, small leg kick, level bat path, stays inside the ball, line drive approach, 81 mph exit velocity.  Behind the plate, 2.13-2.40 pop time, 68 mph on throws.  7.30 in the 60.

Donovan Horn C / 3B / Timberland , MO / 2021

Horn is a 6-foot 219 -pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.53 60 and had an 87 mph exit velocity. During hitting evaluations, Horn showed plus pop to all fields, starts in a more upright position with an open stance, in line stride, lightning quick hands, showed feel for the barrel, natural lift to his swing. Defensively, Horn starts in an athletic position, fluid footwork, quick catch to release, moves well for someone his size, strong arm with carry, positional velo of 78 mph, mostly accurate throws, pop times between 2.03 and 2.20 seconds.

Matthew Howard C / 3B / Columbia, IL / 2021

Howard is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Illinois' 2021 class.  He ran a 7.40 60 and has an 85 mph exit velocity. During batting practice, Howard has a balanced stance, in line stride, smaller leg lift into load, flat bat path, repeatable swing. Behind the plate, clean transfers, short arm action, over the top release, momentum towards target, positional velo of 75 mph, accurate throws, pop times between 2.09 and 2.21 seconds.

Jackson Huskey C / OF / Battle , MO / 2021

Huskey is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.32 60 and has a 75 mph exit velocity. During hitting evaluations, Huskey starts in a balanced stance, small load, some rhythm with hands, in line stride, level bat path, showed gap-to-gap contact during round. Defensively behind the plate, Huskey has a balanced set up, quick feet, clean transfers, longer arm action, over the top release, positional velo of 66 mph, pop times between 2.21 and 2.50 seconds, mostly accurate throws.

Erik Kiewiet C / 3B / Francis Howell, MO / 2020

Kiewiet is a 6-foot-1 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran a 7.77 60 and had an 83 mph exit velocity. During hitting evaluations, Kiewiet uses minimal movement to get into his load, in line stride, extension through the baseball, high finish with hands, showed the ability to drive the baseball during round. Defensively, he has quick feet, clean transfers, short quick arm action, high three-quarter release, pop times between, 2.00 and 2.30 seconds, positional velo of 72 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Stetson Marion C / RHP / Holt , MO / 2021

Marion is a 5-foot-10 280-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.90 60 and had a 78 mph exit velocity. During hitting evaluations, Marion starts in a balanced stance, minimal movement into his load, stride is across body, remains balanced throughout, slight upper coat swing path. Defensively behind the plate, Marion starts in an athletic stance, fluid footwork, quick over the top release, momentum towards target, quick transfer to release, positional velo of 78 mph, accurate throws and pop times between 1.94 to 2.09 seconds.

Shea McGahan C / OF / Lindbergh , MO / 2021

McGahan is an athletic and lean 6-foot, 175 pound right-handed hitting catcher.  Mcgahan impressed both offensively and defensively.  At the plate, tall set up, smooth load back, short stride, explosive lower half, explosive bat speed, level bat path, gap to gap approach, 90 mph exit velocity.  Behind the plate, soft hands, quick and clean exchange, high 3/4 arm slot, exceptional arm strength and accuracy, throws at 80 mph, 1.88-2.12 pop times,  7.19 in the 60.

Tommy Mohan C / 3B / Parkway West, MO / 2020

Mohan is a 6-foot 190-pound left-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran a 8.00 60 and had an 87 mph exit velocity. During hitting evaluations, Mohan starts off in a balanced stance, loose hands, simple load, flat bat path, barrel is in the zone for a very long time, repeatable swing, showed contact to the middle of the field during round. Defensively behind the plate, balanced set up, quick transfer to throw, longer arm action, over the top release, positional velo of 72 mph, accurate throws, pop times between 2.02 and 2.30 seconds.

Hunter Moser C / SS / Williamsville, IL / 2022

Moser is a 5-foot-9 140-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Illinois' 2022 class.  He ran a 7.53 60 and had an exit velo of 82 mph. At the plate, open set up, fluid rhythm, short leg kick, gap to gap approach, 82 mph exit velocity, ran a 7.53 60 yard dash.  Behind the plate, soft hands, quick and clean transfer, high 3/4 arm slot, 2.08-2.16 pop time, 73 mph positional velocity.

Dalton Rudd C / OF / East Carter , MO / 2020

Rudd is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran a 7.30 60 and had an 84 mph exit velocity. During batting practice, Rudd starts in an open stance, quick leg lift into load, loose hands, in line stride, feel for the barrel, extension through the baseball, repeatable swing. Behind the plate, quick actions, fluid footwork, clean transfers, soft hands, over the top release, quick arm, positional velo of 79 mph, mostly accurate throws, pop times between 1.96 and 2.08 seconds.

Dalton Short C / 3B / Lutheran St Charles, MO / 2021

Short is a 6-foot-1 215-pound left-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2021 class. He ran a 7.82 60 and posted an exit velocity of 94 mph. During batting practice, Short starts slightly opened, simple load, quiet with hands, in line stride, some lift to swing, quick bat, shows barrel control. Behind the plate, quick feet, clean arm action, clean transfers, high-three quarter release, positional velo of 71 mph, pop times between 2.15 and 2.22 seconds.

Ayalew Sisay C / SS / Timberland, MO / 2022

Ayalew Sisay is a 5-foot-8, 150 pound right-handed hitting catcher and shortstop in Missouri’s 2022 class.  At the plate, closed set up, fluid rhythm, quick and long leg kick, level bat path, 80 mph exit velocity.  Behind the plate, soft hands, clean exchange, high 3/4 arm slot, 2.0-2.3 pop time, throws up to 75 mph.

Rhett Smith C / 1B / Grain Valley , MO / 2020

Smith is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran a 7.30 60 and had an 86 mph exit velocity. During batting practice, Smith starts open with stance, smooth actions into his load, quick bat, loose hands, flat bat path, minimal head movement. Behind the plate, balanced set up, quick arm, high three-quarter slot, positional velo of 67 mph, mostly accurate throws, pop times between 2.30 to 2.41seconds.

Elias Stevens C / 3B / CBC, MO / 2019

Stevens is a 6-foot 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2019 class, a Maryville University commit.  He ran a 7.47 60 and had a 91 mph exit velocity. At the plate, Stevens starts in a wider and open stance, shortened leg lift into load, quiet hands, in line stride, shows feel for the barrel, full extension through the baseball, slightly uphill bat path, during bp showed an aggressive swing with pop. Defensively, Stevens has good actions behind the plate, short quick arm action, high three-quarter release, strong arm with carry, positional velo of 80 mph, very accurate throws, pop times between 1.94 to 2.08 seconds.

Tyler Stine C / RHP / Hickman, MO / 2022

Stine is a 5-foot-8 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2022 class. He ran a 7.82 60 and had an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open set up, smooth load and smooth leg kick, level bat path, stays inside the ball, gap to gap approach, 84 mph exit velocity, ran a 7.82 60 yard dash.  Behind the plate, soft hands, quick and clean exchange, high 3/4 arm slot, reliable blocking.  2.07-2.27 pop time, throws up to 71 mph.

Ethan Taylor C / 1B / Ladue, MO / 2022

Taylor is a 6-foot-2 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2022 class.  He ran a 7.88 60 and had an 83 mph exit velocity. During batting practice, Taylor starts in a wider but balanced stance, some rhythm with hands, stride is across body, minimal head movement, lifts baseball with a high finish with hands, showed pop during round. Behind the plate, Taylor shows a balanced set up, clean transfers, over the top release, positional velo of 72 mph, mostly accurate throws, pop times between 2.00 and 2.26 seconds.


Luke Willis C / 3B / Mount Vernon, MO / 2021 

Willis is a 5-foot-11 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Illinois' 2021 class. He ran a 7.69 60 and has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, slight pre-swing hand rhythm, short in line stride, level bat path through the zone, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, thin and staggered set up, over the top arm slot, clean exchange on time with fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws, pop times between 2.12 and 2.25-seconds, 68 mph positional velocity.
