MARUCCI ELITE TEXAS 2018 DUNN

+ We got our first look at 2018 RHP Braxton Ashcraft (Robinson HS) this summer. The Baylor recruit has a long-limbed, projectable frame at 6-foot-5, 190-pounds, and works from a high-¾ slot with a long, quick arm stroke. In the heat of the day of Friday he sat 89-93 mph with his fastball that varied in movement, cutting to his glove side and flashing run to his arm side. He topped out at 95 mph one time, but hit 91 and 93 mph multiple times. His slider had tight spin with late bite at 77 mph, while his changeup sat 83 mph.

2018 C/OF Peyton Lewis (Cy-Fair HS) has a strong 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame. The Texas State recruit hits from the left side and is a projectable bat with power. We had the chance to see him catch for several innings and play left field. He is athletic enough to play both positions at the next level, especially with him being an accomplished left-handed hitter.

+ Uncommitted 2018 SS Jackson Loftin (Klein Collins HS) continues to impress with his defense. Loftin is a rangy, high-waisted 6-foot, 175-pounds with presence in the middle of the field. He moves with fluid actions, quick footwork, and plenty of arm strength to play the left side of the infield in college. For those that have seen him play, he has a tremendous “baseball clock” and rarely looks rushed. Also a high school football player, Loftin commands the field on a very good Marucci team.
