The Hotlist: Recent 2018 Standouts

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

To kick off the offseason, we've been updating rankings, starting with the 2016 class. Last week, we teased the 2017 class and will have that update roll out this week. Next up is the 2018 class. Below are some sophomores that have stood out recently or will make a climb in the next update.

John Ariza, RHP, Seton Hall Prep, NJ
Ariza is projectable with an extra-large frame at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. He is methodical with his tempo and has an aggressive lower half once he reaches the top of his leg lift. He pitches from a 3/4 slot and his confident in what he’s doing, showing mound presence beyond his years. His fastball has arm-side bit at 83-85 mph and his breaking ball flashes good potential at 70-72. His changeup is also effective at 80-81.
