Prep Baseball Report-Missouri/Kansas held the Top Prospect Games - MOKAN on August 8 in Warrensburg, Missouri at the University of Central Missouri.  Nearly 40 players participated from Missouri and Kansas in the 2020, 2019 and 2018 classes.

We will break down the event position-by-position, taking a look at the outfielders today.  The group of twelve outfielders had one player positional velo over 90 mph and three over 80 mph. Four outfielders ran a sub-seven 60-yard dash and two players had an exit velocity over 90 mph.   Players are listed below in alphabetical order.

Player's profiles have been updated with profile pictures, videos and stats from the event. Coaches will have new profiles to add their dashboard on ScoutPlus and players will be able to update information on their profile with ProspectPlus.

Outfielders

Gabriel Combs RHP / Lees Summit , MO / 2018

Combs is a 5-foot-11 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.12 60 and a 4.65 home to first. He has an 85 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts slightly open, controlled leg lift, minimal movement in hands to load, level path through the zone, mostly middle of the field contact during hitting evaluations, repeats timing.  In the outfield, 73 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, momentum to throw after the catch, works behind the ball, fluid transfer on time with footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Wyatt Johnston OF / Paola , KS / 2018

Johnston is a 5-foot-11 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.51 60 and a 185 home to first.  He has an 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, short stride, no wasted movement in load, loose hands to contact, swing produced line drives to middle and opposite field during batting practice.  In the outfield, 74 mph positional velo, over the top arm slot, momentum through the catch, clean transfer, fluid footwork.

Kayden Lewis OF / Hickman, MO / 2018

Lewis is a 6-foot 185-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.35 60 and a 4.35 home to first.  He has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, thin stance in base, short stride, slight lift in swing path, hands control the bat head, mostly line drive drives from oppo gap to pull side.  In the outfield, 70 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, momentum after the catch, clean transfer, fluid footwork. 

Nate Hassed OF / Blue Valley North , KS / 2019

Hassed is a 5-foot-9 150-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 6.77 60 and a 4.14 home to first. He has an 82 mph exit velo. At the plate, smooth pre-swing rhythm, rocks into back side to load, minimal stride, starts square, level path through the zone, hard line drives gap to gap during during batting practice, feel for the barrel.  In the outfield, 82 mph positional velocity, quick to the ball, quick twitch actions, athletic, high three quarters arm slot, transfer and feet on time together, mostly accurate throws. 

Trevor Gray 1B / Raymore-Peculiar, MO / 2020

Gray is a long and lean 6-foot-1 145-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.65 60 and 4.47 home to first.  He has a 75 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced set up, thin base, short stride, hands manage the bat head, slight natural lift to bat path, solid hard contact middle to pull side.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velocity, fluid actions, high three quarters release, plays through the ball while transferring to throwing hand, throws with momentum through the catch. 

Michael Kolb OF / Westminster, MO / 2018

Kolb is a 6-foot 195-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.22 60 and a 4.44 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 91 mph.  At the plate, starts in a loaded position, slightly closed stride, level path to extension, occasional pull side power, swing produced consistent hard line drives to the middle and pull side of the field during hitting evaluations.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, plays through the catch with fluid footwork and clean transfer, takes route behind the ball, quick to the catch, mostly accurate throws. 

Theron Morgan Jr OF / O'Fallon, IL / 2019

Morgan is an athletic 5-foot-8 145-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Illinois’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.07 60 and a 4.65 home to first.  He has a 75 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, minimal load, no wasted movement, early to toe touch, loose hands, quick bat speed, consistent line drives to the middle of the field, hands control the bat head.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velocity, athletic, quick catch and throw, uses legs to throw creating momentum, quick actions, accurate throws, some with carry. 

Gage Norman OF / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2020

Norman is a lean and projectable 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.33 60 and a 4.68 home to first.  He has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, athletic stance, smooth load into back side, minimal hand movement, quick bat speed, feel for the barrel, gap to gap line drives. In the outfield, 77 mph positional velocity, over the top release, long arm circle, fluid footwork, clean exchange, momentum after the catch. 

 

Brendan Noack OF / St. Charles West , MO / 2018

Noack is a strong 6-foot 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 6.83 60 and 4.40 home to first.  He has a 83 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts slightly open, controlled load with pre-swing rhythm in hands, level path, swing produced mostly pull side line drives during hitting evaluations, body stays under control.  In the outfield, 81 mph positional velocity, over the top release, throws have carry, plays through the ball, quick transfer and throws, fluid footwork, mostly accurate. 

Bobby Orr OF / Smithville, MO / 2018

Orr is a 5-foot-9 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 6.78 60 and a 4.08 home to first.  He has a 74 mph exit velocity. At the plate, pre-swing rhythm in hands, minimal load, short in line stride, hands manage the bat, level path, simple and repeatable, gap to gap line drives during batting practice, feel for the barrel.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velocity, loose over the top arm action, quick actions in feet and transfer, plays through the ball, athletic, mostly accurate throws. 

Ian O'Malley OF / Carthage , MO / 2019

O’Malley is a 5-foot-11 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.33 60 and a 4.72 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, leg kick, aggressive bat speed, slight lift to bat path, mostly middle to opposite field line drives during batting practice.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velo, high three quarters arm slot, momentum through he catch, crow hop, clean exchange, athletic footwork, throws are accurate and on line with carry.

Bennett Patton OF / Hickman, MO / 2018

Patton is a 6-foot-3 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class, recently committed to Central Missouri.  He ran a 6.94 60 and a 4.52 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 91 mph.  At the plate, smooth and accelerated swing, balanced stance, short in line stride, quick bat speed, consistent solid line drives gap to gap, occasional pull side power.  In the outfield, 91 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, throws downhill, stays on top of ball, fluid glove to hand transfer, crow hop arm works, athletic, mostly accurate throws.
