As the fall draws to a close and the grind of the winter training season begins, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff rolls out our first take on the 2028 class. This class is packed full of talent, evident in capturing the Prep Baseball Junior Future Games title for 'Team Missouri' against some of the top talent in the nation this past summer in Emerson, GA. Though we have data on well over 100 freshman, we kept our list to the top 10 players. We will quickly expand this list as we get to see players more often this spring.

The lefty features a rhythmic, polished left-handed swing with a knack for finding barrels and big power potential, possessing a mature approach that can handle even the top arms. On the mound, he works in the low-80s with his fastball, commanding an above average breaking ball that he lands consistently for strikes.

Kameron Gillespie SS / RHP / Liberty, MO / 2028

Arguably the top athlete in the group, Gillespie oozes tools and upside in every facet of the game. A standout infielder at this year's Junior Future Games, Gillespie is an advanced defender at short showing advanced range and footwork for his age. He shows polished actions at the plate using a short, repeatable stroke from the left-side that has shown an advanced feel for the barrel and sneaky pop at times, making him a must see player in the class.

Krue Patrick 3B / RHP / Staley, MO / 2028

With loud tools on both sides of the ball, Patrick is a high-follow two-way prospect with plenty of projection to come. At 6-foot, 175-pounds, Patrick is physically advanced and shows advanced actions both at the plate and on the mound. It seems like the righty is headed for extra bases every time he steps to the plate and has shown high end arm strength across the diamond to pair. Featuring a mid-80s fastball on the mound and the ability to fill up the zone with all three pitches, Patrick is a name to know in the Missouri class.

Brady Rallo OF / LHP / Christian Brothers College, MO / 2028

Rallo was a standout for Team Missouri at this year’s Junior Future Games, consistently producing at the plate and handling some of the top arms from across the nation with a quick, level swing from the left side of the plate. With plenty of room to add on size and strength to a 5-foot-9, 152-pound frame, Rallo has the makings to be a premier bat in the state’s freshman class.

Nolan Ash SS / RHP / Southern Boone, MO / 2028

With all sorts of upside and athleticism in a 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame Ash is a standout two-way athlete to know on both sides of the ball. A plus defender on the infield that can handle the bat, Ash has the look to be a future middle of the order bat with upside on the mound as he continues to fill out and mature, making him an exciting prospect to follow.

Porter McCarthy SS / Benton, MO / 2028

A high-level gamer that never fails to deliver when the moment calls his name, McCarthy shows impressive baseball IQ with an advanced skill set to pair. A standout on Team Arkansas at the Junior Future Games two years ago, McCarthy puts pressure on defenses thanks to a clean left-handed swing that works from gap to gap and 6.96 speed. He will be a name to keep an eye on as he continues to add size and strength.

Cayden Jackman 1B / LHP / Kirkwood, MO / 2028

Another two-way athlete, it is on the mound where Jackman shines the brightest, showing advanced feel to repeat his delivery and the ability to set up hitters by commanding both sides of the zone with a true three pitch mix. Also a strong runner, Jackman has shown he can put pressure on defenses with his speed and ability to handle the bat at the plate, playing a big role in Team Missouri’s title run at the Junior Future Games this past summer.

Xander Tiller OF / RHP / Benton, MO / 2028

An all-around athlete packed with strength and quick twitch, it is Tiller's game changing speed that sees him slide in at No. 8 in the first edition of our rankings. His quick right-handed swing with elite bat speed, 6.85 speed on base paths, and the ability to track down anything that comes his way in the outfield make Tiller a must see prospect from the Kansas City metro area.

Chase Owens C / RHP / Farmington, MO / 2028

The top catcher in our list, Owens is as physical and athletic as they come in a 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame. An advanced defender behind the dish with quick, reliable hands and arm strength to pair, it is Owen’s speed and knack for the barrel that finds him in our top 10. As he continues to polish his game, look for Owens to emerge as a must see backstop in the Show Me State.

Owen Wilde RHP / SS / Helias Catholic, MO / 2028

Wilde shows plenty of promise on the mound in an athletic, 5-foot-9, 148-pound frame with plenty of room for growth. Featuring a fastball up to 84 mph with more in the tank, Wilde possesses the maturity to command both sides of the zone with his curveball/changeup mix to keep hitters off balance and could see his name slide further up this list as he further polishes his game.
