Legacy Scout Day: Quick Hits

Eliott Wilk
Central Region Operations Director

On Sunday, September 22nd, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff traveled to the Legacy facility in Chesterfield, MO to host the annual Legacy Scout Day. This event, which is in its 2nd year, featured 40+ players from the Legacy program in attendence.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. To see what our events offer, click HERE.

Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 5+ names that popped to our staff from Saturday's trip to Chesterfield.

QUICK HITS

+ The current No.1 overall player in the Missouri 2027 class, INF/RHP Cole Chambers (St. Louis University, 2027) put together an impressive bullpen in Sunday’s look. A multi-sport athlete, Chambers shows both present and future physicality in a 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame. In this look he ran his fastball up to 87.7 mph comfortably sitting at 84-86 mph while commanding both sides of the zone. Off of that, he showed advanced feel to land a tight, 2400+ RPM curveball at 72-73 mph while also flashing a changeup at 78-79 mph and a tumbling splitter at 75-76 mph. Chambers also found the barrel with consistency throughout his round of BP and fired a 86 mph bullet across the infield for the top infield velocity of the day.

+ Sunday provided our staff with another look at a top two-way talent in the 2027 class in RHP/1B Brandon Ott (De Smet Jesuit, 2027). Possessing some of the most upside in the class, Ott uses a 6-foot-4, 188-pound frame and a loose, whippy arm action to run his fastball up to 87 mph on the mound, pounding the zone consistently at 85-86 mph. Off of that he spun a sweeping slider at 72-74 mph with an average of -10” of horizontal movement and turned over a low-spin changeup to pair. At the plate, Ott swung a physical left-handed barrel that drove balls from gap-to-gap, reaching a 97.5 mph exit velocity on his best barrel - good for the second best mark on the day. He also showed off his arm strength in the field, posting a 86 mph mark from first base.

+ Making his Prep Baseball debut, 1B/C Anthony Wohlstadter (Chaminade, 2026) came away from Sunday’s event as a name to know. With inherent strength throughout a 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame, Wohlstadter put together one of the loudest rounds of BP on the day. The junior barreled his best ball 376 feet at 97.6 mph - both top marks at the event. In the field, Wohlstadter showed off his athleticism and versatility both at first base and behind the plate where he fired 1.90-2.02 pop times.

+ 1B/LHP Michael Sinn (Lafayette, 2027) was a winner on both sides of the ball from this event. A long, lean two-way to keep an eye on in the 2027 class, Sinn got the day started with a loud round of BP that saw him barrel his best ball 95.9 mph from the right side of the plate. At first base, Sinn posted a 80 mph top velocity with feel for footwork around the bag. To wrap up the day, the sophomore hopped on the mound, running his fastball up to 84 mph with the feel to fill up the zone with a curveball at 69 mph, a slider at 72-74 mph, and a low spin changeup at 73-75 mph. With a 6-foot-5, 190-pound frame, there is plenty more to come as Sinn continues to add size and strength and polish his game.

+ Another impressive outing on the mound came from RHP John Haberkorn (Eureka, 2026). Toeing the rubber at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds, Haberkorn used his size and strength to produce an upper-80s fastball that reached an event leading 88.5 mph in this look. Off that, Haberkorn spun a 65-69 mph curveball with depth for strikes and flashed feel for the zone with a 74-75 mph changeup as well.

+ INF Ryan Horne (Christian Brothers College, 2026) put together a well rounded event, impressing on both sides of the ball. The quick-twitch, 5-foot-11, 170-pound junior showed a powerful, quick stroke at the plate that worked line drives from gap-to-gap, producing a max exit velocity of 92 mph - top 10 in the event. Horne also shined defensively, showing off his athleticism and range at short with smooth, reliable hands and an accurate arm to pair.

+ RHP Carter Martin (Warrenton, 2027) showed why he is an upper-tier follow on the mound. The upside, 6-foot, 160-pound sophomore showed smooth actions on the mound, producing effortless velocity with his fastball at 84-85 mph with plenty more to come. Additionally, Martin also spun a high-level slider at 75-76 mph with 2900+ average RPM, and a changeup with arm side fade at 78-79 mph.
