The Mississippi Diamond Notes is back for 2025 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance. 

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

MISSISSIPPI DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 2

Cooper Long RHP / 3B / MS Columbus Heritage Academy, MS / 2026 Long threw 7 innings over 2 appearances for the Patriots last week, allowing just 3 hits, 0 runs, while striking out 13.

Reid Garrett RHP / 1B / CALEDONIA HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2026 The East Central CC recruit threw 5 innings, allowing just 2 hits, 0 runs, while striking out 13 hitters.

Wilson Rodriguez RHP / SALTILLO HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2025 The Itawamba CC recruit earned our pitcher of the week honor after throwing 6 innings of 1 hit ball over then ranked New Hope. Rodriguez also struck our 9 hitters on the night.

Brady Griffin 1B / LHP / Hartfield Academy , MS / 2025 Griffin, a Hinds CC recruit, continued his strong start to 2025 by throwing 5 innings, allowing 1 hits, with 12 strikeouts.

Gage Thompson RHP / SS / Oak Grove , MS / 2025 The Jones College recruit picked up another win after throwing 4 1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit, with 7 strikeouts.

Maddox Miller LHP / 1B / Oak Grove, MS / 2025 The Mississippi State signee threw 4 innings, allowing 1 hit, with 5 strikeouts to pick up another win for the Warriors.

Jackson Meehan SS / RHP / Northwest Rankin, MS / 2026 The Southern Miss recruit was sharp as he threw 6 innings, allowing just 2 hits, 0 runs, while picking up 8 strikeouts.

Collier Clark RHP / 1B / Belmont, MS / 2025 Clark was instrumental in two wins last week for the Cardinals as he threw 10 innings, allowing 2 runs, with 17 strikeouts over 2 appearances.

Cayden Prestage OF / LHP / Itawamba, MS / 2026 The former Future Gamer was on fire as he threw 5 innings, allowing 1 hits with 15 strikeouts.

Cooper Waddle LHP / OF / Itawamba , MS / 2025 The Southern Miss signee had a solid outing throwing 5 innings, allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, with 8 strikeouts.

Malachi Witcher SS / Pontotoc , MS / 2025 Witcher earned our player of the week honor after picking up 9 hits in 14 at bats, which included a home run, a double, 7 runs batted in, and 9 runs scored.

Cooper Moreaux 3B / RHP / Picayune, MS / 2025 Moreaux had a stellar week going 8 for 10 with 3 doubles, a homer, and 6 runs batted in. He also added 3 innings on the mound, allowing 0 hits or runs, with 7 strikeouts.

Drew Klinck SS / RHP / Grenada, MS / 2026 Klinck went 5 for 9 on the week at the plate, while adding 5 stolen bases and 7 runs scored for the Chargers.

Ryder White OF / RHP / Pisgah, MS / 2026 The former Future Games hurler has a solid week at the plate as he went 5 for 10 with a double, triple, and 6 runs scored.

Mac McDaniel OF / Oak Grove, MS / 2026 The uncommitted McDaniel went 4 for 7 with 3 home runs, a double, and 7 runs batted in on the week for the Warriors.

Eric EJ Booth Jr. OF / 1B / Oak Grove, MS / 2026 The Vanderbilt commit and 2 time Future Gamer continued his hot start to 2025 by going 7 for 9 with 2 doubles, 4 rbi's, and 5 runs scored.

Brady Saxton OF / LHP / Northwest Rankin, MS / 2025 The Gulf Coast CC recruit went 8 for 14 with a double, 2 home runs, and 4 runs scored for the Cougars.

John Austin Wood C / 3B / Itawamba Agricultural, MS / 2025 The North Alabama signee went 5 for 12 last week with 2 doubles and a triple for the Indians.

Drew Swan 1B / 3B / Purvis, MS / 2025 The uncommitted senior went 4 for 8 with 2 home runs, a double, 4 walks, and 7 runs batted in for the Tornadoes.

Carson Renfro LHP / Grenada, MS / 2027 Renfro had a solid outing by throwing 6 1/3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run, with 5 strikeouts for the Chargers.

John William Walker 3B / St. Andrew's, MS / 2026 Walker picked up 9 hits in 16 at bats on the week for the Saints, including 2 doubles, 8 runs scored and 8 runs batted in.

	Marco Leflore 2B / RHP / St. Andrew's, MS / 2026 Leflore went 7 for 13 last week for the Saints with a double, 5 runs batted in, and 6 runs scored.
	Jaxson Moore RHP / 1B / HARRISON CENTRAL, MS / 2025 Moore, a Belhaven recruit, threw 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, 0 earned runs, while striking out 9 hitters to pick up the win for the Red Rebels.
