Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 2 of the 2025 spring season. 

 

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Malachi Witcher SS / Pontotoc , MS / 2025 The uncommitted senior infielder picked up 9 hits in 14 at bats on the week with a home run, double, 7 runs batted in, while scoring 9 times. Witcher is hitting .588 in the early going for the 5-0 Warriors!

 

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Wilson Rodriguez LHP / SALTILLO HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2025 The Itawamba CC recruit threw 6 shutout innings over New Hope, allowing just 1 hit with 9 strikeouts. Rodriguez is 1-1 with a 0.78 ERA and 16 strikeouts on the young season.
