Day Two Notes: Trustmark Park

Pearl, MS -  On Wenesday the Prep Baseball Report staff had the chance to watch the 2A, 4A, and 6A championship games hosted at Trustmark Park. Included in today’s Mississippi Scout Blog are notes on several players we caught in action yesterday.

Bailee Hendon, LHP, Vancleave, 2018
Jones County JC signee, The left-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a short arm stroke and regular effort down the mound. Displayed fill to command the zone with multiple pitches. His fastball was 83-87 mph for most of the game but did drop velocity to 81-83 mph. His curveball had loose 1/6 shape at 71-75 mph, that he did receive several swing and miss on throughout the game. Can also mix in a changeup at 78 mph with arm side run and fastball arm speed. Earned the win in game one of state championship with a complete game shutout allowing only two hits and eight strikeouts.

Logan Tanner, RHP, George County, 2019
Mississippi State recruit. The right-hander works from a high slot with a quick arm stroke and regular effort down the mound. His fastball had good downward plane working the zone at 92-94, topping out at 95 early in his outing. Held his velocity well throughout his six innings of work. Quality performance, tons of strikes, pitched off his fastball for the most part. Displayed ability to spin a tight breaking ball at 73-75 mph that had solid depth. Pitched six innings allowing seven hits and four runs walking only three while striking out twelve.
