Diamond Notes: 5A and 3A Matchups

The 2018 MHSAA state championship got underway on Monday with three south teams looking to close out their series on Thursday.  Today we look at several noticable performance from yesterday matchups as Hattiesburg and St. Andrews finish their season with state titles.

+ Mississippi signee, Joe Gray (Hattiesburg) went 5-for-7 with two walks, a double and two RBI.

+ Louisiana-Lafayette signee, Dexter Jordan (Hattiesburg) went 5-for-7 with four RBI, one walk and two doubles. Also pitched for five and one third innings allowing four hits, one run, one walk while striking out three.

+ Miami Dade JC signee, Kameron Wells (Hattiesburg) posted four RBI in the two game series.

+ Landon Rascoe (Hattiesburg) threw four innings allowed one hit, two runs, four walks while striking out three.

+ Jack Eldred (Lewisburg) went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

+ Clayton Todd (Lewisburg) went 2-for-2 with two RBI. 

+ Dylan Bond (Lewisburg) went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

+ Brady Johnson (Lewisburg) went 1-for-2 with three walks

+ David Ducote (St. Andrew’s) went 4-for-6 with two RBI and a double.

+ Holland Townes (St. Andrew’s) threw five and two-third innings allowing seven hits, three runs, and one walk while striking out eight. 

+ Rhodes college signee, CJ Carron (St. Andrew’s) threw eight innings allowing two hits, two runs and three walks while striking out eight.

+ Clark Mills (North Pontotoc) pitched seven and one-third innings allowing eight hits, three runs and one walk while striking out seven.

+ Jake Reeder (North Pontotoc) threw six innings allowing six hits, four runs and three walks while striking out four.

+ Ethan Dyer (North Pontotoc) went 3-for-7 with one RBI.
