Hattiesburg – Saturday, PBR Mississippi was on the campus of Hattiesburg High, to watch the Hurricanes of West Harrison take on the Tigers of Hattiesburg in a 5A third round playoff game. The Tigers would eventually claim a 10-8 victory, after a back-and-forth offensive match up.

2017 RHP Cade Simon threw six innings for West Harrison, and took the loss, surrendering ten runs on ten hits while striking out three. Simon sat 77-81 mph with fastball and 64-65 mph with breaking ball, challenging the zone with both pitches. West Harrison would claim an early 5-2 lead, thanks to 2019 OF Tate Parker, 2017 OF Brandon Parker and 2018 Kasey Donaldson, who combined for five of the Hurricanes’ six hits.

RHP Kameron Wells started on the mound for the Tigers, but would only go two and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs, three hits while striking out three and walking one. The Tigers’ offense would come to life in the fifth as they record four runs and take the lead 6-5. This big inning was lead by 2017 uncommitted catcher, Noah Thorton. Thorton would go three-for-four on the day while driving in five big runs. 2018 OF Dexter Jordan, ULL recruit and 2018 2B/RHP AJ Stinson also had multiple hits for the Tigers.

With the lead going into the sixth inning, the Tigers bring 2018 RHP, AJ Stinson to the mound. Stinson only threw one and one-third inning while allowing two runs, three walks and strikes out one. Stinson showed quality arm strength, sitting 84-88 mph with fastball, touching 89 mph, but struggled with command.

After Stinson walks two hitters in the seventh, Hattiesburg brings in 2018 RHP Jamarcus Lang, JSU recruit. Lang entered the game and was effective with fastball sitting 82-85 mph. Lang would go two-thirds innings securing the save for the Tigers, as they move on to the 5A South State playoff series.
