MS Diamond Notes: Week 6

The Mississippi Diamond Notes is a new feature for 2023 that will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.

For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Mississippi Diamond Notes. 

DIAMOND NOTES: MARCH 20TH - MARCH 25th

Brady Robertson 1B / LHP / Picayune, MS / 2024 The Pearl River CC recruit scattered 6 hits over 6 innings, allowing 0 runs, while striking out 9. The lefty is now 3-1 with 1 1.55 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 27 innings for the Maroon Tide.

Andrew Williams SS / RHP / Alcorn Central , MS / 2024 Williams had a stellar week hitting at a .375 clip with 3 home runs including a grand slam and 8 runs batted in. The uncommitted junior is now hitting .391 with 5 homers and 19 RBI's for the Bears.

Joseph Parker SS / 2B / Purvis , MS / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 125 / POS: 36 The Mississippi State recruit went 4 for 6 on the week with 2 home runs, and 2 doubles. The sophomore is currently hitting .500 with 5 HR's and 13 RBI's for the Tornadoes.

Peyton Lacy RHP / 3B / Pass Christian , MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 34 / POS: 8 Lacy had yet another solid week with a 7 inning 13 strikeout performance over Greene County. The Southern Miss recruit also went 5 for 12 with a double, a home run, and 6 runs batted in for the Pirates.

Dylan Welter SS / RHP / Pass Christian , MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 128 / POS: 15 Welter continued his solid season with a 7 for 12 week at the plate. The Milsaps recruit had 3 doubles, 4 stolen bases, and scored 6 runs for the 13-5 Pirates.

Josh Lee RHP / Gulfport , MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 29 / POS: 5 The senior and Southeastern Louisiana recruit has been solid as of late and added another superb outing by throwing a complete game shutout, scattering 6 hits, with 3 strikeouts.

Bryson Pisarich RHP / 1B / Biloxi, MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 68 / POS: 17 Pisarich continued his steady 2023 season with another terrific outing. The South Alabama recruit tossed a complete game 3 hit shutout last week, while picking up 13 strikeouts on the evening.

Maddox Miller LHP / 1B / Oak Grove , MS / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 7 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 212 / POS: 20 The sophomore lefty and Mississippi State commit continued his stellar season with 5 innings of work, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, and 8 strikeouts. Miller is now 4-0 with a 0.46 ERA, along with 52 strikeouts in 30 innings for the Warriors.

Walker Hooks LHP / 1B / Brandon High School, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 49 / POS: 9 The big lefty and Ole Miss commit was dominant once again for the Bulldogs throwing 6 innings, allowing just 1 hit, 0 runs, with 6 strikeouts. Hooks is now 5-2 with a 0.56 ERA, including 37 strikeouts and just 4 walks in 37 innings.

Jack Ketchum RHP / 1B / Heritage Academy, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 34 / POS: 13 The talented junior went 8 for 12 with 2 doubles and 6 runs batted in for the Patriots. The uncommitted Ketchum is now hitting .529 with 4 home runs and 23 rbi's on the year.

JB Williams RHP / 3B / Northpoint Christian School, MS / 2023 The senior and Northeast MS CC recruit threw 7 innings, allowing just 2 hits, 1 run, while striking out 12 in his latest start. The righty is now 2-0 with a 1.07 ERA and 25 strikeouts in just 13 innings for the Trojans.

Hudson Brown 1B / RHP / Northpoint Christian, MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 11 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 423 / POS: 13 The big left handed hitting first baseman and Kentucky recruit hammered 3 home runs and drove in 7 runs on the week. Brown is now hitting .375 on the young season with 12 runs batted in.

Montravious Winn SS / RHP / Ridgeland , MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 41 / POS: 6 The senior righty and Louisiana lafayette recruit threw 6 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 runs, while striking out 12 in his most recent start. Winn is now 3-1 on the season with a 1.91 ERA and 45 strikeouts in just 22 innings for the Titans.

Jarvis Woody RHP / SS / Ridgeland, MS / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 29 / POS: 4 The talented sophomore threw a gem this past week with 7 innings of work, allowing only 1 hit, with 7 strikeouts. The uncommitted righty is now 4-1 with a 2.05 ERA with 34 strikeouts on the year for the Titans.

Christian Doty / Lausanne Collegiate, MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 28 / POS: 1 The talented freshman and Ole Miss commit went 5 for 10 on the week with 3 doubles, 3 walks, and 3 runs batted in for the Lynx.

Luke Hamblen RHP / 1B / Lausanne Collegiate, MS / 2024 The junior right hander threw 10 and 2/3 innings for the Lynx, picking up a win and 12 strikeouts in the process.
