MS High School Team Preview: Harrison Central Red Rebels

The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Pearl, MS at Trustmark Park as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Magnolia State.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each MHSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

Team Outlook:
The Harrison Central Red Rebels finished 8-18 a year ago and will look to their 5 returning starters and 3 arms to flip the script in 2023. Head Coach Neil Frederic likes the energy his squad brings and feels they are ready to get after it this spring!
Top returners for the Red Rebels include seniors Shaun Cochran (INF/RHP) and Daniel Ruiz (INF/RHP), along with juniors Trenton Bond (INF/RHP), Gabriel Colon (INF), and Tri Gaughf (OF/LHP). Gaughf led the team with 16 RBI’s last season while adding 26 innings on the mound. Both Ruiz and Bond picked up valuable innings as well.
Other players Coach Frederic expect to step up in 2023 are senior RJ Broadus (OF/LHP) and junior Zachary Dorley (C/RHP).
Several Underclassmen make the future look promising for Harrison Central. Those players include sophomores Kaynen Beard (INF/OF), Jayden Cooper (INF/OF), Carl Hanshaw (OF/RHP), Brady Hogue (INF/OF), Jaxson Moore (1B/RHP) and Bryan Travis (C/OF), along with freshmen Braxton Baugus (INF/RHP), MJ Conner (INF), and Jayden Taylor (INF).
