MS High School Team Preview: Ridgeland Titans

PBR Mississippi Staff

The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Pearl, MS at Trustmark Park as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Magnolia State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each MHSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

New skipper Eddie Easley returns 8 positional starters and 7 arms from a squad that had 22 wins in 2022. The Titans will look to pitching, defense, and overall experience to be the main ingredients for a deep play off run in 2023.

They will be led by a couple of seniors who have both signed on to play at the Division 1 level. Shortstop Montravious Winn (Louisiana Lafayette) and catcher James Woody (Grambling) are gearing up for their final seasons at the high school level. Both will be heavily relied on offensively, defensively, and on the bump in order for the Titans to advance further than last season’s 3 round appearance in the 5A state playoffs. Junior 3B Parker Ishee, is another dual player expected to play a significant role in this spring’s success. Isle had close to 100 at bats and nearly 30 innings pitched last season.

As far as underclassmen expected to step up, INF/RHP Jarvis Woody is making a name for himself as one of the top players in the 2025 class. The younger Woody was very instrumental in last years success with 10 wins on the mound.

Should be an exciting year for the Titans!
