Mississippi Open: Quick Hits

The inaugural Prep Baseball Report, Mississippi Open took place on Tuesday, July 11 at Southwest Community College. The event was open to all 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 high school graduates. Here’s a quick recap from some of the top performers.

+ 2018 INF/RHP Cade Killingsworth (North Pike) showed soft hands with easy actions in the infield and solid arm strength with accuracy on throws, recording a positional velocity of 84mph. On the mound, Killingsworth sat 82-85 mph with fastball. Also throwing a breaking ball at 70-72 and a changeup with near fastball arm speed at 73-74 mph.

+ 2020 OF/RHP Devin Daniels (East Marion) began the day showing off athleticism posting the fastest 60-yard dash time with a 6.74. As a right-handed hitter and an outfielder Daniels showed crude actions with developing arm strength.

+ Uncommitted, 2018 OF Adarius Myers (Seminary) began the day by running a 6.81-second 60-yard dash, also throwing 83 mph from the outfield. Myers, a right handed hitter with big rhythm in hands, showed solid bat speed with consistent hard contact during batting practice. Myers uses the middle-to-pull side of the field with a direct, level path.

+ Uncommitted, 2018 RHP AJ Stinson (Hattiesbrug) throws from a long, high-3/4 release with high leg lift, solid balance and short stride. Stinson sat 84-86 mph touching 87 mph in bullpen with some arm side miss. Breaking ball showed occasional tight spin and late action at 69-73 mph. Stinson also showcased a changeup with near fastball arm speed and fade action at 76-78 mph and a slider at 72-73 mph.
