On January 28th the Prep Baseball Report hosted the Preseason Prospect ID at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson, MS. Today, our scouting staff gives its analysis of the pitchers in attendance

+ Bailey Allbritton, RHP, Grenada, 2019
Wiry 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with room to continue to fill. Right-handed pitcher that works from a short arm action into high-3/4 release with stiffness, and regular effort in delivery. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, working down the mound with in-line direction, and finishes athletically. Fastball sat 77-80 mph and was thrown around the zone with mostly straight action. Breaking ball showed early 11/5 shape at 67-68 mph. Change was thrown with near fastball arm speed at 69-72 mph.

+ Dalton Baxley, RHP, Enterprise, 2018
Athletic 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame, with room for added strength. Right-handed pitcher throwing from a short, high-3/4 release and regular effort in delivery. Smooth rhythm, with level shoulders staying compact as he works down the mound with in-line direction.  Fastball sat 81-85 mph and was commanded around the zone. Breaking ball showed 11/5-shape with depth and spin at 70-72 mph. Change up showed slight arm side action with near fastball arm speed at 76-78 mph.

+ Alex Bolling, RHP/3B, Oak Grove, 2019
Physical 6-foot-1, 217-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher throwing from ¾ release, with solid balance, and easy effort in delivery. Fluid rhythm while tall on his backside, level shoulders, in-line direction and finishes athletically. Fastball sat 74-77 mph with mostly straight action, showing ability to command for strike. Breaking ball showed gradual 11/5-shape with near fastball arm speed at 58-62 mph and change was thrown at 69-70 mph.

+ Carson Buckner, OF/LHP, Germantown, 2021
Long-limb 5-foot-7, 135-pound frame with room for continued growth. Left-handed pitcher throwing from ¾ release, with solid balance, and easy effort in delivery. Fluid rhythm working down mound with level shoulders, in-line direction and finishes square and athletically. Fastball sat 74-75 mph with mostly straight action, showing ability to command for strike. Breaking ball showed gradual 2/7-shape and depth at 61-62 mph and change was thrown at 69-70 mph.

+ Jake Carr, SS/RHP, Madison-Ridgeland Academy, 2020
Athletic 5-foot-11, 166-pound frame with lean build. Right-handed pitcher with short arm action into high-¾ release and regular effort in delivery.  Slow fluid rhythm with level shoulders, lands square, and finishes slightly off to first base side. Fastball was scattered around the zone at 80-81 mph. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with early, developing action at 62-63 mph. Also showed a changeup showed with near fastball arm speed and 65-66 mph.

+ Keonte Carter, 1B/RHP, Terry, 2018
Currently ranked No. 120 in Mississippi’s 2018 class. Thick 5-foot-11, 205-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher works from a high-3/4 slot with a medium arm stroke. Smooth rhythm, drop-and-drive delivery, landing in-line and finishing athletically.  Fastball was commanded around the zone at 79-80 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape and developing spin and depth at 67-69 mph, also flashed a changeup that had slight fading action at 70-71.

+ Blayne Clark, RHP, Water Valley, 2020
Medium 5-foot-9, 180-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher working from a high-¾ release, with solid balance, quick rhythm and easy effort in delivery. Slightly high front-side working down mound with in-line direction, and finishes athletically slightly off to the first base side. Fastball sat 78-79 mph with mostly straight action, showing ability to command for strike. Breaking ball showed gradual 11/5-shape and spin at 67-71 mph and change was thrown at 73-75 mph. Also flashed a changeup that was thrown at 73 mph.

+ Dillan Fiveash, RHP, Hernando, 2019
Long-limb 6-foot-1, 161-pound frame with room for continued growth. Right-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release, with solid balance. Fluid rhythm working down mound with high front side, in-line direction and finishes square and athletically. Fastball sat 77-78 mph, topping at 79 mph with mostly straight action, and was scattered around the zone. Breaking ball showed gradual 11/5-shape with early action at 65-68 mph and change was thrown at 69-70 mph.

+ Ryland Hemphill, SS/RHP, Florence, 2022
Right-handed pitcher that works from a short arm action into high-3/4 release with looseness, and regular effort in delivery. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, working down the mound with in-line direction, and finishes athletically. Fastball sat 74-76 mph and was thrown around the zone with mostly straight action. Breaking ball showed early 11/5 shape at 66-67 mph. Change was thrown with near fastball arm speed at 69-70 mph.

+ River Kidd, SS/RHP, Enterprise, 2020
Athletic 6-foot-0, 170-pound frame with room to continue to fill. Right-handed pitcher worked with slow, fluid rhythm into short quick high-3/4 release. Works around front side finishing off to the first base side. Fastball was commanded in the zone with mostly straight action at 78-81 mph. Breaking ball showed developing shape at 71-73 mph also flashed a changeup with near fastball arm speed at 73-74 mph.

+ Kevin Lindsey, RHP, Perry Central, 2019
Long-limb 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with room to continue to fill. Right-handed pitcher that works from a high-¾ slot with a long arm swing, and short stride down the mound, finishing tall and athletically. His fastball sat 77-80. Breaking display developing shape at 70-74 mph and flashed a change up with near fastball arm speed at 70-74.

+ Mitchell Martin, OF/LHP, Brandon, 2019
Stocky, athletic frame at 5-foot-8, 175-pounds. Left-handed pitcher throwing from a short, high-3/4 release and regular effort in delivery really loading on backside. Smooth rhythm, with level shoulders staying compact as he works down the mound with in-line direction.  Fastball sat 77-79 mph and was commanded around the zone. Breaking ball showed 2/7-shape with depth at 68-69 mph. Change up showed slight arm side action with near fastball arm speed at 70-71 mph.

+ Nikolas Mazza, SS/RHP, Madison-Ridgeland Academy, 2021
Lean, athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher working from a high-¾ release, with quick arm stroke, solid balance, smooth rhythm, and effort in delivery. Slightly uphill front-side working down mound with in-line direction, and finishes athletically. Fastball sat 84-85 mph and jumped out of the hand. Breaking ball showed gradual 11/5-shape and spin at 62-63 mph and change was thrown at 70-71 mph.

+ Mitch Murrell, RHP, Ocean Sprins, 2019
Physical 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame with thick build. Right-handed pitcher sat 86-87 mph with arm side run from a high-¾ slot with a loose, quick arm stroke. Repeated delivery with level shoulders working across body creating occasional cut to the fastball. Breaking ball showed 11/5-shape with depth and near fastball arm speed at 72-75 mph. Change showed slight fading action at 75-76 mph.

+ Connor Nation, LHP, Madison Central, 2021
Wiry 5-foot-11, 155-pound, projectable frame with plenty of room to added growth and strength. Left-handed pitcher works from a high-¾ slot with a short, quick arm stroke and regular effort. Drop and drive delivery with smooth rhythm, level shoulders and finishes athletically. Fastball was commanded in the zone at 77-79 mph with a breaking ball that showed depth at 65-66 mph. Also flashed a changeup at 68-69 mph that was thrown with near fastball arm speed.

+ Keshun Patterson, SS/RHP, Pascagoula, 2020
Long-limb 6-foot-2, 150-pound frame with room to fill. Right-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release, with balance, fluid rhythm and effort in delivery. Fastball sat 74-78 mph with mostly straight action, and was scattered around the zone. Breaking ball showed gradual 11/5-shape with early action at 64-65 mph and change was thrown at 69-70 mph.

+ Cole Pittman, OF/RHP, Porters Chapel Academy, 2019
Wiry 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with room for added strength. Right-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release with fluid rhythm and stiffness, effort in delivery. Fastball sat 77-80 mph and was commanded around the zone. Breaking ball showed gradual 11/5-shape at 66-67 mph and change was thrown at 69-70 mph.

+ Austin Russell, 3B/RHP, Pisgah, 2021
Average 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame with room for continued maturity. Right-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release with fluid rhythm working down mound with in-line direction and finishes athletically off to first base side. Fastball sat 71-72 mph, with mostly straight action. Breaking ball showed gradual 10/5-shape at 57-60 mph and change was thrown at 65-67 mph.

+ Kyle Savell, OF/RHP, Madison-Ridgeland Academy, 2020
Wiry 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher works from a high-3/4 slot with a medium arm stroke. Smooth rhythm working down the mound with in-line direction finishing athletically off to the first base side.  Fastball was commanded around the zone at 74-75 mph. Breaking ball was thrown at 58-59 mph, also flashed a changeup at 66-67 mph.

+ Nic Scucchi, LHP, Oak Grove 2019
Long-limb 6-foot-4, 200-pound projectable frame. Left-handed pitcher works from a high-¾ slot with a short, loose arm stroke, and a smooth drop-and-drive delivery. His fastball sat 78-81 mph with slight arm side run. His curveball has depth and 1/7 shape at 66-68 mph. Changeup was thrown with fastball arm speed at 71-72 mph.

+ Sean Smith, 1B/RHP, Pascagoula, 2021
Hulky 6-foot-1, 205-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release with fluid rhythm and easy effort in delivery. Fastball sat 69-72 mph and was scattered around the zone. Breaking ball was thrown at 57-60 mph and change at 64-65 mph.

+ Caleb Sterling, C/RHP, Warren Central, 2019
Lean, athletic 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Right-hand pitcher works from a high-¾ slot with a medium, loose arm stroke. Tilts his shoulder at the top of his leg lift, leaning back before working down the mound with a drop and drive delivery and an athletic finish. Arm works well from back to front and there is still room for his velocity to jump. Fastball was scattered around the zone at 83-86 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 69-70 mph and changeup showed slight fading action to the arm side at 70-71 mph.

+ Branson Tadlock, 3B/RHP, Ridgeland, 2021
Physical 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher works from a high slot with level shoulders, drop and drive delivery and athletic finish off to first base side. Fastball was 75-77 mph and was commanded around the zone. Curveball flashes depth at 67-68 mph and changeup at 72-73 mph with slight arm side fade.

+ Shelby Terrell, RHP, West Marion, 2019
Wiry 6-foot-2. 160-pound frame with long limbs and room to add strength. Medium, clean arm stroke into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and normal effort. Upbeat tempo to the delivery with fluid rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Repeats delivery well commanding fastball at 83-86 mph showing downward angle with occasional sinking action. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape, flashing occasional tight spin with depth at 72-76 mph.

+ Trey Thomas, 3B/RHP, Germantown, 2019
Athletic 6-foot-1, 170-pounds with wiry build. Right-handed pitcher works from high-¾ slot with a long arm swing. Works to balance with good hip load, getting down the mound linear direction finishing off to first base side. Fastball was commanded around the zone 73-75 mph. Curveball flashes 11/5 rotation at 63-64 mph, and changeup at 62-63 mph.

+ Cole Tolbert, RHP/3B, West Jones, 2021
Long-limb 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame with room to continue to fill. Right-handed pitcher works from high slot with a long takeaway from the glove into a long arm stroke through extension. Tilts his shoulders at balance before working down the mound with a drop and drive delivery, landing square and finishing athletically. Fastball was thrown at 80-81 mph and was commanded around the zone. Breaking ball showed early spin at 68-69 mph and change was thrown with near fastball arm speed at 67-69 mph.

+ Trevor Waddell, LHP, Germantown, 2019
Average 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame. Left-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release, with solid balance, and regular effort in delivery. Fluid rhythm while tall on his backside, slight shoulder tilt, in-line direction and finishes athletically. Fastball sat 81-82 mph with arm side run and was commanded for strike. Breaking ball showed 1/7-shape at 72-73 mph with depth and change was thrown at 73-75 mph.

+ Elijah Watts, 3B/RHP, Resurrection Catholic, 2020
Hulky 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release with fluid rhythm and loose, quick arm stroke with regular effort in delivery. Fastball sat 79-80 mph and was commanded around the zone. Breaking ball showed gradual 11/5-shape at 69-70 mph and change was thrown at 70-71 mph.

+ Garrett Webb, OF/RHP, Lamar School, 2020
Young, maturing 5-foot-7, 135-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher works from a high-3/4 slot with a short arm stroke. Smooth rhythm, landing in-line and finishing athletically.  Fastball scattered the zone at 72-73 mph. Breaking ball showed early shape at 57-58 mph, also flashed a changeup at 68-69 mph.
