The Mississippi high school season kicks off on February 26, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 29, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. Outlook

Coach Joe Hartfield and the Hattiesburg Tigers have their eyes set on returning to Trustmark Park after claiming the 5A state championship in 2018. Although the Tigers lost a big chunck of talent, they return a solid core from a productive 2018 lineup. On the mound, RHP Landon Rascoe will be expected to carry the load. Rascoe has shown quality arm strength, pitching in the mid to upper 80s while flashing a tight spinning slider. 2020 grads Caleb Tart and Jerry Burkett will lead the Tigers lineup defensively while Camrom Lott will control the staff from behind the dish. Coach Hartfield and the Tigers have a talented team and will look to the experiences learned last year to carry them through the 2019 campaign.
